Just had a listen to Morning Son, Beat Goes On, KFAD and For Anyone from Barrowlands. I really can't understand what everyone is on about. His album vocals are very, very good. But what he does live is just apalling. He hits every high note wrong, he again sounds like a singer struggling. Why can't it just come naturally? Why can't he just let it come from his stomach, and sing naturally? I understand all the mayhem around the first gig, and them playing again live. But i just cannot believe those enthusiastic (youtube-) comments saying he sounds 'amazing' or 'nailed' the For Anyone vocal. I was hoping for clean vocals, not the screaming, drunken hooligan thing. Fuck Liam, get some lessons. Relaxe on stage. Have fun.

His voice isn't that bad, nor is it amazing as everyone is making out. Kill for a Dream on youtube sounds good. Don't forget you can't really judge his voice from a shitty handheld camera-made video.

Hard to judge by the videos I've seen, but of what we can hear, he doesn't sound that good. Unfortunately...

Compared to other singers in big bands: It's really bad.
Compared to Liam at the DBTT and DOYS-tours: It's clearly better.
You would've thought it would continue downhill, maybe that's creating the enthusiasm.

Its alright tbf, to say its appalling is bullshit. Its not stunning, its not dreadful. And frankly all I care about is the gig i'm going to next week and he generally sounds great in the actual venue.

It's how you look at it. It's no Chris Martin, or something like that, so technically, yeah, it's not really good. But what did you expect? Comparing to our "Liam-standards" (post 2000) it's rather good. On a video a band always sounds much worse live, than when you see them. So I bet that if you were there, he sounded awesome!! (Can someone who was there back me up on this? ) I think TBGO and FA are better than expected. The most important thing to worry about, is how his voice will hold up the next months. If his voice goes back to the same level of the DBTT tour, or even the DOYS tour, FA is going to be terrible live. Now I rather liked it.

I really don't understand how anyone can say he sounds bad, i think he sounds fuckin' amazing on these clips. I know it's not the 94-97 Liam, but It's one of his best voices in years. I mean, he even nails the "I'm never giving up" and "Forever in my heart"-bit in the song. That's something I never ever thought I would hear live from Liam.

Think he sounds better than I remember hearing live in awhile. His voice didn't lose the snarl/sneer in any of the clips I watched.

I don't give a fuck whether he sounded bad or not, I had one of the best nights of my life last night. I was there - no-one can take that from me.

I think we're all overreacting about liam's voice. We need to calm down a little. It's not horrible nor great as 95-97

Yup. Nor horrible, nor great. It's above mediocre I think, but it's hard to get the real picture from these videos.
He's holding the notes and sings much more than at many of the late Oasis gigs. Still has a tendency to shout over the guitars, but I guess this'll never go away.
"Compared to other singers in big bands: It's really bad."
I think you'll find that most singers in big bands have off nights. Even the ones that technically piss over Liam.

Jeez, his voice wasn't that bad! Not perfect but nowhere near as bad as it probably will be in a good few months time!

I've never heard Liam sound so out of tune. He was always pretty spot on, but usually the voice would sound very rough or raspy or tired. Don't think it's fair to criticise him really, he's performing a shitload of new songs for the first time in front on an audience, it's going to take him a few weeks to start to nail them all and feel more comfortable. It must be pretty nerve racking to go out in front of an audience that big with entirely new material.

Don't know why some people fucking care about a voice during 24/7.
If you don't like 'the voice' don't hear the fucking singer.
There's a lot of bands around. Change your fucking fave band if 'the voice' bothers you.
It's the same shit discussion since 2002.

He didn't run outta breathe and he stretched out all his notes, something I haven't seen in years. That's all that matters to me. Its a Rock fuckin concert not church. If u wanna hear altos go to a coldplay concert. Did anyone give a flying fuck the way johnny rotten sang? No cuz he would belt it out, who fuckin cares. If there is one thing that is really stupid about this forum is the obsession with liam singing all pretty. Its really getting old folks. Give up the dream.

I don't think it's possible to judge his vocals from this crappy youtube vids.. Bellboy was there and he said in the other thread that he was impressed by his vocals! And tbf, I don't even think those youtube vids sound that bad as some of you are claiming over here I mean, it's Liam, he's 40, did booze, drugs and partying 24/7 for 20 years, what would you expect him to sound like? + He is really singing on all of the songs, not shouting, no kermit, no snarls. I he sings like this when I see them, I'll be happy

I thought the sessions they band did for BBC Radio 1, American Radio and the Abbey Road show were fine really good. I'm sure at least one of the gigs on the tour will be broadcast on TV/internet. Maybe they are waiting until a bit later in the tour to do it, when they have found out what works and what doesn't in the set list.
I'd like to hear Morning Sun live, from the youtube video it sounds good.

KingJohn is you think Liam's voice is bad then you can't have been to an Oasis gig in the last 10 years. I've gone every tour since around that time and that is the best 'singing' Liam has produced for ages, he holds notes isn't cutting everything into a shout or snarl.
Don't get me wrong we'd all love Liam's voice of 97/98 era but that is long gone, this is the best he has 'sang' in ages imo

It's not that good, and it's all downhill from here folks.
That's me being realistic. Equally realistic is the fact that it doesnt really matter if youre at the gig, you'll enjoy yourself either way.

From what I've seen/heard via the various recordings and bootlegs, I think Liam is sounding good.
He also seems to be enjoying the songs too which I think helps, with some of the later Oasis gigs I felt he was just going through the motions.
I'll have a better idea next week after the Troxy gigs.
