I Love Liam's songs. Andy's songs are very good too. Gems songs are ok (the two songs on the album I don't really like are Wind Up Dream and Standing on the Edge of the Noise). In Oasis, I liked Gem's songs better than Andy's.

I got my copy yesterday in Columbus, Ohio, after going to SIX CD stores that didn't have it. Ended up buying it at an FYE because they were the only ones with the bonus version. WTF! Anyway, listened to it twice after holding out until I actually had the album. were you trying to buy the album at places on High St.?

Magnolia, Used Kids, Lost Weekend and Johnny Go's did not have it and told me it didn't come out until next week. Then I went to Best Buy and they only had the standard version without the DVD, which was obviously unacceptable. Target didn't have it, so I went home and called FYE, which stunningly DID have the deluxe version. Well worth it!

i don't know what to think just yet. i don't like to form my opinions after the first listen, but there are some songs i liked and some that i didn't. they may change soon enough, but as of now, i'd give the record a 3/5.

I was exactly the same after the first listen, quite a few tracks grew on me especially after hearing the live sessions.

Four Letter Word
The opener is the best song on the album, loved it when I first heard it, love it more now. Snarling, disgusted, angry vocals. Will literally destroy crowds live. Set-opener, without a doubt 8/10
Millionaire
Overrated. Not that good, dunno why, just not having it. Nice intro though. 5/10
The Roller
Didn't like it when I first heard it, love it now. Liam's nailing it live as well. Good place for it on the album as well, before.... 8/10
Beatles and Stones
....Kicks in. Love this one, proper old fashioned rock n roll. Love the 'miiiiihihhihihihihihihine' bit! Sounds like it could be in Grease haha! 7.5/10 Wind Up Dream
Said earlier that it sounds like The Beatles doing Meaning of Soul. Like the 'aaaahh haaa aaa's' as well. 7/10
Bring The Light
Jizzed my pants over this when it first came out! Loved it live the other night. Most anticipated song on the tour for me. BABY COME ON! 8/10
For Anyone
Lovely little tune, thought of Heartbeat when I first saw it. More handclaps. Angelic vocals 6.5/10
Kill For A Dream
Most anticipated song for me when I heard the previews. Glorious, should be a real singalong live. Good lyrics as well. If it was 30 seconds shorter it would get an 8. 7.5/10
Standing On The Edge Of The Noise
Weakest song on the album, B-Side worthy maybe, but not album. 5/10
Wigwam
A plodder. Like the 'sha la la la la's' though, add to the song. Again, not bad, not great. Goes on waaaaaaay too long as well. 6/10
Three Ring Circus
Groovy bass line and epic drum pattern. Not bad, silly lyrics for me. 6.5/10
The Beat Goes On
Intro sounds like Keep The Dream Alive for me. Good lyrics, one of my favourites. 8/10
The Morning Son
Beautiful, again will be a singalong live for sure. Great vocals, sung from the heart. Contains my favourite lyric of the album ("He's in my mind, he's in my soul, he's even in my rock 'n' roll"). My favourite Liam song ever. 8/10

So that's an overall of 91/130 for me, giving it a 7 overall. About right, good, solid album.

I’ve had the album since Saturday and I’m struggling with it. Here’s a run down:
Four Letter Word: Good opener, loud guitars, good lyrics. Decent start.
Millionaire: Really can’t get into this. Think it’s partly due to not being able to understand the lyrics and also the fact that there’s no break between verse / bridge / chorus – just one stream of lyrics. Doesn’t work for me, may have been better hidden away on the second half of the album?
The Roller: I’ve never really liked this. Not sure why really. Can’t stand the ‘uh uh’ lyrics on the chorus. Just doesn’t work for me.
Beatles & Stones: Love this. Love the guitar riff and the drums. Great little tune.
Wind Up Dream: I’d hoped for more of a Stones influence on this album – this is about the sum total but it is great. Possibly my favourite tune at the moment.
Bring The Light: Have always liked this – it shouldn’t work but does due to Liam’s vocals and that piano.
For Anyone: OK, a little too derivative of the Merseybeat sound but it’s short and sweet.
Kill For A Dream: Not sure about this, think it’s the line ‘you say to the driver just drive, cos you’ve never felt so alive’. Andy’s songs just come across as a bit clunky and contrived for me. Turn Up The Sun is brilliant, Keep The Dream Alive and The Nature Of Reality just about get away with it but this song, Millionaire and The Beat Goes On just don’t work for me.
Standing On The Edge Of The Noise: Great chorus, great for Liam to snarl through. Decent.
Wigwam: I think this should have ended the album – the lyrics of ‘I’m coming up’ would have been a great way to end it. Not too much La’s reference in the verse lyrics fading back in towards the end.
Three Ringed Circus: Decent rocker, great guitar solo. Sounds much better on the album than on the radio session as the blatant Heavy Stereo chorus is hidden behind extra vocals! I was pleasantly surprised by how good Gem’s songs were considering the slagging he’s been getting on this board recently.
The Beat Goes On: I just don’t get this! The lyrics are absolutely cringe-worthy. ‘The Ox and the Moon were counting me in…’ – a fifteen year old would have binned that if they’d written it! If this was an Oasis album there is no way this song would have made it, I’m not even sure Andy would have presented it to Noel for fear of ridicule.
The Morning Son: A good song but spoilt by The La’s rip-off which is just too blatant. This should have been faded out as the drums started to speed up and been put elsewhere on the album with Wigwam ending it.
Overall it’s just OK for me. There’s no Oasis album I’d prefer this to, I’d even put it below Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. Like that album there’s some good stuff but also some rubbish, but the best bits here don’t exceed the best bits of Standing… I think I’ll end up editing and rearranging it and then I’ll like it more. Drop The Roller and The Beat Goes On, edit The Morning Son, perhaps add Sons Of The Stage or Man Of Misery.

You said there was no Oasis album you preferred to it. dont you mean you prefer every oasis album over this?? No, he said 'There’s no Oasis album I’d prefer this to' meaning he prefers every Oasis album to this. Personally, I really like it and reckon it's better than at least two or three Oasis albums. This was the first release I'd waited for since SOTSOG so it was nice to get the old school build-up of hearing a few songs in live sessions and some clips here and there. I'd say it's a strong 7/10 so far with my favourite tracks being The Roller and Kill For A Dream. A good sign is the fact that I've had different songs on my brain on different days - today it's Standing On The Edge Of The Noise - which shows there are plenty of hooks on there. It's a lot looser and consequently more fun than recent Oasis releases, it's exactly the sort of album I've been hoping for from Oasis for some time and, in my opinion, is a lot better than Dig Out Your Soul. Oasis got into a bit of a rut I feel, having started out as a band writing breezy, upbeat pop-rock songs. This goes back to that and feels like a breath of fresh air. Listening to the album I get the impression that the split has been really liberating for Liam, Gem and Andy. Andy's songs in particular are really impressive. This has put a bit of fun and excitement back in their music, to these ears at least.

The Ox is John Entwhistle and the Moon is Keith Moon, I think its a good lyric reflecting the gig in the sky and heavenly tilt of the lyrics

Hearing the interview on XFM, I love how Andy came up with the lyrics for The Beat Goes On & Millionaire. They are both well thought out tunes and have great structures.

Big 8/10 for me, i've been listening to it tons and really like it. Another good point way above when someone said Wigwam would be a good closer on the album, that would have been good. Part of me is still excited that theres all these new songs to listen to but i'm actually really liking nearly all of them. Plus cant wait to see them next week, as much as i love Oasis hearing rock n roll star/Wonderwall for the 10000th time was getting a 'bit' dull. Looking forward to hearing all new songs being performed
