I'm not one of them, of course. But I thought it would be a good idea to set up a specific thread for the aforementioned to discuss their initial thoughts. They missed out on all of the madness and fun of the previous 2 weeks, so here's a thread that they can devote to that.

well that is nice but thats like saying that people who watched avatar early downloaded from bit torrent had all the fun over the people who waited to see it in the theatre. we still read the posts. and still have stuff to look forward too. a proper release date too. there are two debating schools of thought on this. but the people that waited are going to experience it with the rest of the world. the forum is a small community relatively speaking. to each their own

Well, I held out this long. Couldn't wait any longer.
Finally got the .zip file tonight from the Dangerbird Records rep. About halfway through... about to hear "For Anyone" for the first time. Having heard "Millionaire" from the KEXP session already, I was blown away by the studio version. Just awesome. Beatles and Stones was great, had a bit of a "Meaning of Soul" vibe to me. "Wind Up Dream" hasn't really processed yet. Still in love with "The Roller" -- great song.
"For Anyone" just came through my headphones...
EDIT: "For Anyone" was like Songbird part two... that's a compliment, by the way. But "Kill for a Dream" is blowing my mind!!!! Favorite thus far.

4LW - A punch in the face. Perfect opener which utilizes the whole band well, with the powerful drumming of Chris, Gem's solo and Andy's outro madness. 9/10MLN - Very unexpected opening. BDI goes country rock almost. Nice acoustic number. Unexpected lyrics, but it is an Andy song so that explains it. 7/10TR - Have heard this one too much, I think. But it's nice. Lennon. Very uplifting tune. 8/10B&S - The order of the tracks is a bit strange. This one don't really fit after TR. Nice My Generation theft, it has attitude. The "I'm on my way home" and "What's that you say?" parts are the best, Liam feels like an angry car driver. But as most Liam tunes like this it is no more than just "good". 6/10WUP - This is COOL. Bizarre intro and a harmonica solo Gem's best song for the lads up to this point. Attitude and nice beat. Rock n roll. 9/10BTL - No please, don't wanna hear this again. It's all right, but I've been fed up with it since November more or less. But the last 2 min are better, good enough for a 5 grade. 5/10FA - As good as Songbird. To say the least. 8/10KFAD - Nice lyrics (Andy once again of course). Sounds a bit like Hurricane #1. Nice, but a bit saucy. The ending is ace. 8/10SOTEOTN - Bizarre filter on Liam's voice. Onslaught of sound, I like it. A bit like ICSAL. 9/10WW - A Liam song including "lalala". How uncommon. Interesting development of the song, definitely Liam's most complex number to date. Sounds like some Late Beatles number, off Abbey Road or The White Album. Need to hear it again to get it. 7/103RC - "I wanna be where we as people should be" might be the best line of the album. The chorus is magnificent. 9/10TBGO - The best song since 1997? Could've been written by Macca in 1967. Chris does a very good job here. 10/10TMS - Beautiful. Nothing like How Do You Sleep? - this is written to a brother who's been loved in vain. 10/10

i like the chorus of 'standing on the edge of the noise'. 'three ring circus' is good, especially the chorus. and 'the beat goes on' sounds like it could be on a Beatles album in an alternate universe or on a Beach Boys album. the rest is pretty forgettable for me.

I really like the booklet. I love this kind of pop-art style. As for the album...I've listened to track 4 so far.

It was there waiting for me when I got home today. Definitely liking it, some really great songs on there (Three Ring Circus and Millionaire probably the stand-out ones after my first listen) Can't wait to see it live in just under 2 months

I'm downloding it now, gonna burn to CD and listen over and over tonight. First thing tomorrow, I'm going to the record shop to buy my copy (as they come out tuesdays here).
Going to listen soon, can't wait. I listened to 3RC, Millionaire and TBGO only once from the radio session and loved them. So most is still a surprise!

I'm very happy with the album. There is some filler in there but all the tunes are solid enough. Right now I am loving Wigwam, The Beat Goes On, and Kill for a Dream. What is most surprising for me though is how much I dig Bring the Light. Never listened to it anywhere but my pc until today. It hit me like a ton of bricks. Rockin tune. I also thought the live version from Abbey Road was mega.
I like this looser more laid back direction.

Considering how many people seemed to be waiting i was looking forward to reading their views on the album. Already been out a few days and this thread is only a page long.

I got my copy yesterday in Columbus, Ohio, after going to SIX CD stores that didn't have it. Ended up buying it at an FYE because they were the only ones with the bonus version. WTF! Anyway, listened to it twice after holding out until I actually had the album.
Initial thoughts...it's better than I expected. Kill for a Dream actually brought tears to my eyes when I first listened to it and I can't really explain why.
The Morning Son is strikingly similar to "Just Getting Older," at least in the verses.
I keep asking myself how this is different from Oasis, and I have an answer: a lack of soaring choruses. These songs rock but there's a lack of moving melody that Noel brings to the table. Anyone else notice this?
I'll post more as I continue to listen, but one overall thought: some top tunes.

This is my little review which I just sent to a good friend of mine:
I’ve listened to the whole album at least 10 times since I got it in my hand last Saturday and to be honest, I’m still trying to love this album. I didn't even listen to the tracklisting and only listened to BTL, FLW, The Roller and Son Of The Stage.before the album came out.
Four Letter Word
My number 2 favourite BE song of the album. I t could have been an Oasis song. Liam's voice sounds really great on this song. Definitely sounds great live and well deserved to being the opening tune of the album
Millionaire
Don’t like it much to be honest although it's not a bad song.
PS: I'm less dislikingEthis song as I'm typing this.
The Roller
Didn't feel much for this song when I heard it for the first time, but now I’m loving it more and more. This is a great song, really wish Oasis (or Noel) could write a song like this in their late years. My most favourite song of the album.
Beatles and Stones
Don't like it much either. Can't say much about this song at this moment.
Wind Up Dream
Could have been an Oasis song too. Will sound great live. Vey "Gem Archer's" (hope you know what I mean)
Bring The Light
A bad joke for the first listen, but not too bad. I don't hate this song now. Could sound better live (I hope..._
For Anyone
My 4th favourite of the album. Very The La's Somewhere in my heart, I'm glad that Liam still sings a song like this.
Kill For A Dream
See Wigwam Standing On The Edge Of The Noise
I can see the crowds go mental as soon as the intro hits.
WIgwam
This song and Kill For A DreamEare the Key, The heart of the album.
Three Ring Circus
Will sound great live
The Beat Goes On
My 3rd favourite song of the album. I'm sure it'll be the sing-along at every gig.
Morning Son
The outro reminds me The La's Looking Glass. Good song and great produced.
I think this album has got Lennon's legacy (and a little bit of Lee Mavers). It’s good that they're not going to play any of Oasis songs live cos it's not what we (at least me) want, it's not the way should be. New name, new band, new songs, new start.
Like many of you on here, I still love Oasis, they're one of my 3 life time bands, but I've accepted their split and I'll keep supporting both Gallaghers. I'm looking forward to see BE in less than 3 weeks time.
