The Oasis chief wants to take a break after the completion of the German tour . The 'Oasis machine' won't be running for that much longer anyhow...."Making music is really hard work. You work on an album for a year and then your on tour for another year. Those are two years out of your life that just fly past you. If I ask myself now wether I want to work for two years or rather do nothing for two years I would rather do nothing and relax. I've actually always had problems writing songs. I don't just pull them out of my sleeves. That we have existed for over 10 years shocks me sometimes. I am 35 now, and one thing is clear: I won't be standing on stage at age 40. I'd like to leave on a positive note .

i hope he is! but i don't think so he'll quit oasis one day. the band will probably go on without him though i reckon. unless he just quits touring. i think liam and noel will always make music whether thats with oasis or not who knows? but i'm sure they'll always be making records you guys should try being a Pink Floyd fan - they have'nt released a new album in 10 years and counting!! least i have new REM material to llok forward REM greatest hits album released later this year btw! you heard it here last!

I just think Liam will carry on forever . What you say about Pink Floyd is basically what I meant about Toploader ( sorry to mention them in the same breath!!!) , I m just gatefull that Oasis managed to release SOTSOG and Heathen Chemistry when they easily could have been finished - I just see eveything from now on as a bonus

i'm so glad you apologised! lol - that is a crime against nature to mention toploader in the same sentance ;D they were crap but i read your post the other day about being sorry for their fans. it is a shame when bands split i first started getting into Floyd when they released their last album back in 93 i think? they survived a break up. and i only got into REM when they released the album which followed their drummers departure. the song 'daysleeper' got me hooked if both bands had split up just one album earlier i may never have got into them - life without floyd and REM?? not worth thinking about!! same as life without shadowboxer

Which REM album is that , weve got all the early ones from when my dad got really into them after he went to America I think . This was when the Gulf War was on and he used to play Man ON THe Moon while he stayed up watching the war on TV .... like Im doing now.

'daysleeper' is from UP which was released in 99 i think just after the drummer left. one of their best albums i love it! but its not to everyones tastes - takes a while to grow on you. 'Automatic for the people' is the most popular album but i would recommend 'New Adventures in Hi-Fi' to anyone - some brilliant songs. getting back to the point about bands splitting up, i think REM are a perfect example of why bands should keep going, because their sound has changed and evolved so much over the years. its fascinating listening to the different styles and sounds that they come up with from album to album. it would be such a shame if they did'nt make another 5 albums, same as if oasis split up. i'd recommend downloading 'nightswimming', 'wake up bomb', 'at my most beautiful' and 'the lifting' if you want a range of their material from the last 10 years

Can't they just come back to the US for a quick tour, and then take a break?? I don't think I wish for much.
