Two positive reviews from Sweden! Nöjesguiden: 4/6 nojesguiden.se/recensioner/musik/beady-eye-different-gear-still-speeding#100"What is left in a worn-rock band in which the songwriter, conductor and the balance has disappeared and left behind three accompaniment of background figures together with a singer whose greatest strength has always been moodiness and attitude, but definitely not composing? Surprisingly a lot, it turns out, when four fifths of the Oasis are back. The anything but subtle loans from The Beatles, The Who and Slade (but no longer by Paul Weller, nb) is there, and naturally cocky attitude and friendliness grating. But more important still is that Liam Gallagher in their constant competition with the big brother has found back to a sense of urgency we have not heard from anyone in that family for fifteen years. Surprisingly good." NWT: 3/5 nwt.se/noje/skivor/article858284.ece"For those who missed it, it Beady Eye Liam Gallagher's new band. But we can put new in parentheses, the beady eye is half-Oasis. It is basically the same band, as it looked when it was shut down, but without Noel. Beady Eye is a shamelessly retro-scented pop and rock festival of classic cut. There is even a song called just the Beatles and Stones, a bit over-explicit contents, may seem. But Beady Eyes music is airy, rich in beautiful melodies and often really good. It feels like a clear rejection of the ornate, heavy-footed direction Oasis took out already on the Be Here Now. It is gratifying, for all except for possibly Noel, who now seems a little like that which prompted Oasis down the wrong path. Beady Eyes debut is hardly perfect, it has its slip into songs. But it shows that sometimes a half Oasis better than a whole."

A few german reviews:
Focus Online: 6/10
"album sounds just like expected." "everything the fans always wanted, but noel didn't give them the last couple of years" "with DGSS the band can't lose. But they can't win either" "without oasis, beady eye would be pretty good newcomers. without beatles and oasis, beady eye would be an unparalleled revelation"
Spiegel Online: 5/10
"songs like 'Standing On The Edge Of The Noise' which sound like 'Get Back', 'Instant Karma', "Far Far Away" und 'Let's Spend The Night Together'" "redundant and boring Pub-Rock" "Noel would've prevent the band from 'Wind Up Dream'" "at least 'Four Letter Word', the really nice 'Millionaire' and the mild psychedelic 'The Beat Goes On' are well done" "but during 'three ring circus' I had to look at my watch"
musicheadquarter.de: 8/9
- "beatles-influenced" "stylistical similar to the first two oasis records" "beatles + oasis revival" "perfectly structured trip back to the 60s" "wonderful virtuosic pearls like 'The Morning Son' and 'Millionaire'" -> "Who thought Oasis would be dead was wrong. Liam has a big mouth... but for a very good reason."

Some Hungarian reviews:
Quart (biggest Hungarian online music 'zine)
Who else could raise the Union Jack yet again than Liam Gallagher? To be honest, no-one expected that much from Beady Eye: Oasis' last album (well, in fact the last decade of Oasis) was less of the self-assured, record-breaking band and more of a band building on routine and playing through the motions. Take the best songwriter away, and you get Beady Eye. Is there need for that? In fact, there is. After hearing Different Gear, Still Speeding we can conclude that this is not an album made in vain. It has more energy and it's more pumping than any of the post-2000 Oasis-albums. There are no surprises, the album sounds like the members of Beady Eye had not heard a note from the 21st century. On the other hand, we have more dynamic and lively rock 'n' roll, not just last year's teaser, Bring The Light. Some songs are about twice as long as they should be, but it's an important album, especially regarding Liam. He can finally step out from the big brother's shadow - it looks like it was a freedom much needed - and he sings throughout the album in outstanding form, no matter that there is not much originality. (B-)

est.hu (big Hungarian program guide) gave 7/10, special mentions for Four Letter Word, Millionaire, Bring The Light and The Morning Son, writes off Three Ring Circus as a filler. Overall positive. "Originality is lacking on the album, but we can rightly say: who cares, when it's full of great songs?"
+++
Magyar Narancs (weekly)
"Oasis without Noel is no sacrilege. Liam made more use of Gem Archer and Andy Bell - two under-utilised musicians in Oasis - and they did a feelgood, springy album, changing the moodiness of the last Oasis-album to a lighter retro-psychedelia. And look! - it actually works." (three stars out of five)
+++
Lángoló Gitárok (music blog of the biggest Hungarian portal) gave 3.5/5, another blog gave a very positive review, simply labelling DGSS "not original but pretty fuckin' good, full of energy, makes a great listening"
Wan2 (big music magazine which was usually quite generous with Oasis) and Recorder are yet to review - the latter should be interesting, as their chief editor is an Oasis fan, who can be critical but writes very good, researched reviews.
