Just an observation here but....did Noel have more than one Gibson ES355 with Bigsby and varitone switch?
I only ask as the guitar he usually uses has 'stereo' written on the truss rod cover..........also, has there been any mention by Noel about Liam trashing HIS guitar as I'm pretty sure the only thing mentioned was noel stamping on Liams guitar....

No. Noel hasn't mentioned it.
It could have happened after he left though.

Also, Liam has stated in an interview or 2 that the guitar he smashed was an Oasis guitar, not a personal guitar of Noel's. Another reason Noel's probably not bothered.

He played a few songs on it before gigs to warm up his voice.

If only the Gallagher brothers had a sister to knock their heads together, we might still have Oasis today. (I have three brothers. I speak from experience.)

The guitar looks like they just removed the headstock and one pick up came out. That can be fixed, there's no damage to the guitar that I can see so im not sure what the problem was. Also when Liam said he smashed Oasis guitar's not Noel's he was just referring to the fact that the guitars were bought with Oasis money. He said this in an interview somewhere.

Paul Gallagher comes pretty close to resembling a sister. I hear he once yelped when Liam towel-whipped him after an Oasis show.

I'm very late to the party here, but I thought I'd clear a few things up. I don't see a picture of Liam's guitar, so I can't comment on that.
I don't see any real damage to "Noel's guitar". The necks do pop out like that, they are held together with glue. I don't see any splintering so it just seems like the neck popped off. Wouldn't be a problem to glue back in, neck resets are very common on acoustic guitars, and not at all unheard of on Gibsons.
Noel may be the owner of that guitar, but that is the guitar that Gem played on the "Noel and Gem" gigs. It is a 1959, not a reissue. I've never seen a picture of Noel with the '59, I've only ever seen Gem with it. Gem used both a 64-65 and '59 on the "Noel and Gem" gigs. Could be a gift from Noel, could be Noel's, or Gem could have bought it himself. You can date the the '64-65 because of the shape of the upper horns on the guitar. '59-'63 has what is referred to as "Mickey Mouse" ears. And in '66 the color slightly changed, almost as subtly as the different between the Mickey Mouse Ears and what came after.
I'm presuming that other guitar Gem used in the "Noel and Gem" gigs was Noel's, which has been stated by Noel, in an interview Circa 2000, as a '64. The shape of the horns confirm this possibility. The one sure way to date that would be to measure the nut width, which changed in 1965. 1 11/16th of an inch for '64, 1 9/16ths for '65. So if anybody gets their hand on it... let me know. Serial numbers in this era aren't reliable, so you have to go on cosmetic changes to date them.

It's Noel's guitars. He made the most in the band. I am sure Gem used it time to time. While the guitar can be re-built. Trust me, being a Nirvana fan too, Kurt had a guy to touring with them to re-build his guitars. That guitar can be fixed, unless the wood is cracked on the body. For Noel, it's matter and intentions of it. Noel doesn't take destroying guitars or personal belongings. He didn't overreacted. Noel and Liam are in their 40's, families, and so on.

Noel's smashed guitar is the farthest away Cherry Gibson in the photo of the guitar rack - not only is it the only one with a capo but if you look at the markings of the frets this is most certainly the smashed guitar.
Liam's is missing the bolts which hold the strings in down at the bottom of the guitar, just beside the hole in the body. Taking them out is no mean feat, so Noel certainly did some damage unseen to us.

Liam definitely broke Noel's guitar and Noel definitely broke Liam's. They've both admitted to their respective transgressions so I don't see why anyone would question that.
Funnily enough Noel never brought up his broken guitar in all his press. I'm inclined to think Liam broke it in a rage after Noel had already walked out following the attack by Liam with his own acoustic and he broke that one.
I'm sure it didn't help the idea with any kind of immediate reconciliation but Noel never listed it as a reason for leaving.

There are key difference between that smashed ES-355 and the one he always plays live. The main difference being the pick guard. The color is slightly different between the years, the upper horns are different, and the pickups are different(but that is invisible to us). Having a capo doesn't prove they are the same guitar. Most importantly is that the smashed ES-355 is on top of its case and backstage and the guitar in the rack is in a gigging rack and onstage. That guitar rack, they put a top on it and move it like it is. They don't waste time with cases. Backstage guitars are meant to travel to hotels and stay with the band so they go in separate cases. And taking the bridge pins out of an acoustic is super easy. Headstock is broken though. Easy repair, Gibson headstocks break very easily.

Very likely, I've just never seen a photo of Noel holding that guitar and I would very much love to see a photo of him holding it. It is a $20,000-$25,000(US) guitar. His stage ES-355, a '64, is $7-8,500(US) these days. ES-355s just started going up in price again after spending 4-5 years lower than they use to go for. Gem did own some VERY cool guitars in his own right. '59 '64 Gem also used the '59 for The Masterplan at some concerts, although he normally used the mini-bucker equipped Firebird non-reverse.

It looks like Noe's strap. Embossed brown leather with a silver buckle and padded shoulder. From what I can see it looks the same as the strap Noel had on his at the iTunes festival. I've never seen Gem wearing anything like that. Have you? No way did Liam lie and say he broke Noel's guitar when it was Gems. I think he's know the difference and wouldn't have broke Gems accidentally. And if Gems had been in the back and Noel's by the stage he certainly would have been able to differentiate. Plus how do you know the case belongs to that specific guitar? Maybe they are using another guitars case because you can't very well transport a broken guitar in the stage rack.

Whatever happen to these smashed guitars? Were they auctioned off? Would be pretty cool to own.

final answer: Noel's smashed guitar is not the main stage guitar (he's currently playing it), but the other 355 he used also in this 2009 TOTP video (with a white pickguard)
