Here's a translation of the interview:
-Since the last news, Noel is working on his solo album, did his shadow not surrounding too much on the band? LG:No, today we can do more things and we're, actually, better without him that with him. Even Noel is thinking that...cos he left us. If the others keep on seeing him, it's their fucking problem. Noel is history, fucking history.
-What was your mood when you decided to continu after Noel's departure? LG: We were sure of one thing: Keep on doing Rock'n Roll
-Do you feel more bloom as musicians than in the Oasis Time? LG: It's an happy album, without sadness at all-even if that was what people expected. We destroyed all that barriers which was bothering us at that time, we remove our gloves, masks. It's not a break up album where we'll gonna cry on Noel's departure. If it's what people expect, they'll be disappointed. AD: DGSS is spontaneous, We didn't need to bother a long time on the songs. It was ready right now.
-Are you kinda 'worried' about Oasis fans' reaction, even if it seems they're almost all following you? AB: Maybe a little...We hope we'll have only for BE. LG: We'll take care of it. We're not afraid of anything. New fans are welcome, it's the least we can do. We're gentlemen. I'm a little nervous, that's OK. It's all my life, it's running in my veins, know what i mean?
-So this record is a kind of reborn? AB: In some way, yes. It's a strange situation: People knows us, but not in that way. They of course know our faces, but they don't kow our exact roleplace in the band. That is also new for us. How that all happened, i couldn't even explain... LG(Cutting Andy's words):I can explain how it happened! It is very simple. Noel left us, and we decided to continu together in something a little different...with another name. And without throwing all away. We're just having more fun! GA: There's something new cos Andy's playing guitar on that record, and we never recorded something with Chris before. But it's still Rock'n Roll for sure. LG: Our music is full of fucking colors. There's some tracks really worked and make you travel, like Standing On The Edge Of The Noise, Wigwam, which are full of different sounds and colors. On the other end, you have tracks like Three Ring Circus with Guitar, Bass, Drims and nothing else. It's efficient. Plus, it's making the videos more easy to do, we don't need a lot to explain what's happening.
-Are you more close together now? LG: Yeah, we saw each others more often. Wait, we're men, we don't call each others at every little wounds. AB: We also learn to really work together. It helped! LG: Every one have his fucking word to say in the band, like our music must speak to every one. It needs to be universal. We want to offer something great. Not only great, know what i mean? Something fucking huge.
-In your opinion, does BE can go higher than Oasis? LG: The other bands who aim at Rock'n roll throne are here to remind that we need to move our ass. It's not they are better than us, we only need to show that we do the job. The goal is to realese another album fast. We're far away from retiring!
-Coming back to DGSS, when did you really start songwriting? GA: Really fast after Oasis split. We did our first songs only 2 months after. LG: We were sure of one thing: Keep'on Rocking. Even if we plan last summer in studio to do the album, we do all and nothing, we follow our moods. For exemple, Bring the Light came up like this, then we decide to put it on the album. The older songs that we wrote, right after Noel left us, hadn't the time to be loved. We didn't what to do with these ones. Their moment came really fast, so we took them back, and reworked. They really needed it!
-Why Bring The Light As 1st single? LG: To became Multi-Millionnaire(Laugh) This song is good and well work. it was a good choice as 1st single. Plus we are a guitars band, and not on this one...it's good to surprise people. AB: We can dance on it, it's a catchy one. It's a nice teaser.
-And this name BE? LG: No particular reason. After all, why is this earth turn? In fact, we didn't want a cool one, or a stoned thing, some c###Suckers, velvet stuff or anything else. Name might be neutral, which is our case, points are not won by name. We don't care of it!
-How would you define the evolution between the Lst Oasis Album and this one? The last Oasis was too smooth and dark. Depressing. Not that it was bad, but was missing that fucking Magic! AB: There was a lot of work but it wasn't punchy enough. We were missing that energy, we wanted to put it in this one. I think we succeed.
-Do you still looking on a punk side, despite your Britpop identity? LG: Yeah, sure, but Beatles and Rolling Stones did it before us. It's like a game. It's not a revolution, not an expression of youth, it's only violence...cool, but controlled. So the best violence that could exist. That's it: Growing up, we learnt Self-control..almost! (Laugh, while the other band members looks at each other with complicity)
-BE looks really 60's. Would you want to live at this 'Swinging London' time? LG: We like music from this time and we don't wanna hide it, it's like our DNA. We always listened to Beatles, Stones, Who, Sex pistols...but we didn't copy this 60's stuffs, even if we know we have a generation delay. It's our natural spirit, we live it everyday. It's not like these one who said they're old school, and do shit, like Duffy!(Collective laugh)
-That's why these videos with similar lights as Beatles'revolution? LG: We already got busted before but today, we are really invested about our image. Directors, sometimes, want to make too much, and we want our video in good hands. It can fucked up a song if someone else want to put his little story into a video that never ends. Then you wanna say: 'Hey man, it's my fucking music, we don't give a shit for your fucking story!', know what i mean? People that came to touch your sound needs to be educated.
-We imagine that you threat hard Photographs you're working with? LG: When we make pictures, it's not a day like the others. We love briefing photographs, so they can go our way, without loosing their creativity, of course. We're not fucking tyranic! Visuals are as important as the music. It's a matter of respect for the public. If not, we'd can only walk in the street, with a dirty sportswear, with snotty nose... GA: But we have to be careful. I've always though that a band with a strong visuals' identity, will have trouble not to keep it sticky... like The Beatles with Revolver for exemple. LG: Funny exemple Gem!
-As we're talking of The Beatles... LG: Never heard of them! (Laugh) OK then, maybe...But for them, that was absolute necessity to put themselves in a formated universe. We're after that period, and now it's the opposite. Today, we need to be the best.
-And this song Beatles And Stones?Tribute or opinion? LG: It shouldn't have been named like tis. Original title was 'Beat Me, Mama' There's an Elvis side into this one, and I am absolutely fan of him. That was that vibe we were after.
-Why did you choose Steve Lillywhite, very 80's assimilated, as producer? LG: He was ready and wanted to work with us. He likes us, our music. And we like his works. When we were at the arrangment, we saw that was rocking. Even if we try to do the best recording process. Nobody thinks of preserving for the next session, even if we need different takes. We were doing it until we thought that was the Good one.
-You recorded it in London. Was it better to work 'at home'? GA: Yes, but don't see anything patriotic in this! We traveled through USA, but the best recording studios are here. Plus we wanted a true sound. So our sound is british at the end. LG: It's not only a matter of time, or money, it's because of the different mood here. This album is a kind of faith's declaration to the palce we lived...It's more easy, with our family lifes. I met Andy, we pick up Gem, or the opposite, then go working really close to our houses.
-Where do you live now? LG: All in North London, where we're happy, but not Chris, still in his hole near Liverpool, we don't get what he's doing there!
-What's the schedule for BE in the next months? LG: We'll give everything in concerts, keeping on being Rock'n Roll, that's meaning 'don't care of what people gonna say about us' We know what we're worth, as our audience.
-A last word? LG: I want Rolling Stones reader to know: There's no better life that artist's life, and i've never felt that way as strong as now. And 'Vive la France'
Maybe there's few mistakes, sorry for that.
