www.spin.com/articles/sneak-peek-beady-eye-us-album-details?utm_source=spinfacebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=spinfacebookDon't know if it's reliable (or if it has already been posted) Britpop rabble rousers Oasis are no more, but three-quarters of the band, led by singer Liam Gallagher, will return on March 1 with Different Gear, Still Speeding, the debut album from their new rock outfit Beady Eye. Gallagher and former Oasis guitarists Gem Archer and Andy Bell teamed with drummer Chris Sharrock immediately following Oasis' split in August 2009 to begin writing and recording material for the LP, which will be released in North America via Dangerbird Records. The new band holed up in London's RAK Studios last fall to track the effort with Grammy Award-winning producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, Dave Matthews Band, the Smiths). The result is 13 genre-spanning Britpop and rock tracks, from the album's first single, a Beatles-esque piano ballad called "The Roller," to the blazing glam-rock boogie "Bring the Light." "We could all have sat at home after Oasis split but what would have been the point of that," Andy Bell said. "We had a couple of weeks off and then we were back in the studio demo-ing. We're musicians, it's what we do, it's how we define ourselves." Adds Gallagher, "We're fired up, not because we thought we'd show everyone it could happen without you know who [Noel Gallagher], we're fired up because we're doing music." Beady Eye are finalizing dates for an upcoming U.S. tour, on which they will be joined by keyboardist Matt Jones (Ultrasound, Jamie T, Minuteman) and bassist Jeff Wootton (The Black Marquee). "I’ll be honest, when the gigs come round with Beady Eye, we'll be shitting it, because it's a new thing," Gallagher admitted. "We've been rehearsing the live set for the last two weeks though and it's sounding great. We're a new band, we're not going to get above ourselves and start thinking we can play stadiums and arenas, we don't want to jump the gun, we want to go out and do small gigs, get back into that vibe then do another album, and take it gradually, stay in the moment of being a new band.”

It has been discussed before, but I really love the energy of this band. Oasis have been called 'tired musicians' for the last decade, so it's great that Liam show them otherwise. They seem incredibly passionate about Beady Eye. I have Noel to thank for so many things; for once making the best music ever, for his many awesome interviews and his cool persona. BUT, obviously he was the tired one. I don't expect his solo album in the next couple of years, lazy bastard.

Excited for the "small gigs" they'll do, especially here in the US where they're even lesser known.

I wonder if this will be available at my local stores like "FYE, Target, Best Buy"? If I do not have to order off the internet I do not want to...

If I do not have to order off the internet I do not want to... yea it should be they have some bigger name artists whose albums do sell in stores, so I don't see why Beady Eye should be any different... oh and its also officially up on the Beady Eye Website now and Dangerbird Records Tweeted about it www.beadyeyemusic.com/news.php

YES! Can't wait for the US tour! It's gotta be in April, in between the Euro and Japan tours, so that means dates very soon!

this is excellent news. We have a chance to see them up close and personal in a tight dark club. I really can not wait. This is probably one of the best things about the Oasis split. They will be playing smaller venues and that gives the hardcore fans (who maybe never had the chance to see the Gallaghers play in a small venue or saw the magic of Oasis during the early years) to see them up close. i can't not wait.

This. As I stated awhile back in a previous thread, you can get pretty damn close very easily at the 930 Club (and I'd imagine it's the same at most small venues). I had a great standing perspective when I saw the Arctic Monkeys, and was within 5 rows of the front for both Stars and Los Campesinos. To get that close to Beady Eye would be awesome. [Would half make up for the time I saw Oasis live, and picked the worst possible seats! ]

Dont get your hearts set on the smallest of venues in the US.
While they definitely wont be doing arenas, the fact that its not going to be a huge tour means there will be less opportunities for people to see them and the fanbases in the major North American cities they will be visiting will have to be serviced properly.
I expect mid sized venues. NYC = Terminal 5, Webster Hall, maybe Bowery Ballroom at the absolute smallest. If DC is even on the cards, I'd expect that show to be in Baltimore at Rams Head unless they play Philly as well. If no Philly, they'd probably go to Rams Head to get more people from that region in.
Id say at least 1000 capacity. I think 930 Club is something like 1200, so thats definitely doable.
