I really enjoyed it after my first listen, especially - Grace, Tragic Magic, Blondie, Walls, and Best Last Forever...Life was good too, but a bit too Take That
Also, I found Friend VERY Boy Band-ish.
Overall though, I think I'll play this album much more than their previous one.
Which Bitch was a great album too, but was too underrated. I'm really loving the new album. Like I said before, the boys are back in the "good" hands again now. Gonna see them in May again. Really looking forward to it.

I'm really loving Tragic Magic, I've been playing that one almost nonstop. It's odd - some reviews love that song, while others dislike it.
Speaking of reviews (I think a 7/10 is about right, mind you), almost every one mentioned either "Noel" or "Gallagher" within it. Thought that was quite interesting that so many of the reviews mentioned them.

I think their biggest influences are The Beatles, Oasis and Fleetwood Mac - don't hear the Fleetwood Mac influence so much though.
Not surprising - they did hire Owen Morris for production on the first two albums and there's also a cover of them doing Listen Up which is floating around on YouTube.

The bass player of the band, Kieren Webster was one of the witnesses at Loch Lomond. He was only 9.
Also got this quote for Pete the guitarist - "First Album I bought was Definitely Maybe. We've actually played with Noel Gallagher at the Royal Albert Hall, which was the most amazing thing. It was pretty hard to believe. That also happened when I played with Primal Scream. I was sitting next to Mani and I was drunk and I slurred at him, 'I used to have posters of you on my bedroom wall!'. "
If you can get your hands on any of their demos, they sound alot like Oasis. Also from Kyle's covers it's obvious he wants to be a Liam tribute
Live Forever - DLBIA - Talk Tonight - Listen Up - Supersonic - Add this in since it's the best Beatles cover I've ever heard -
Finally, apparently on the footage of Oasis at t in the park 2002 you can see Kyle and Pete in the front row.

Wow, those covers are awesome - on the Live Forever cover the singer sounds a lot like Liam does in the LF demo. It's a shame their albums are hard to get here. I really love what I've heard from them so far...
the view were an oasis tribute band before they were the view apparently, anyway loving the new album, all three albums are class and different which is a good thing.
I'll try to get the demos for you. The download links that I knew of have been taken down because apparently it's one of the bands biggest hates, people putting about unfinished tracks that they want to work on.
They weren't just an Oasis tribute, when they were still at school they just did your typical cover stuff like Oasis, Roses etc. They got their break by knocking on Pete Docherty's tourbus door and handing him a demo tape. Pete then put them on the bill for his gig that night and from there they went on to sign a record deal.
Here's a b-side which I can't believe didn't make the abum: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTsy-iSi6S8

I'm seriously shocked The View aren't much more popular...Bread & Circuses is a great, great album (about 8/10 for me, maybe better) and their older tunes are amazing too. And yet it's bands like Brother that get all the attention... I just don't get the British music scene. Anyone got some reviews for this album?

Just saw the boys in Paradiso again on Friday and the gig was mental. I've been listening to them since their demo days back in the end of 2005. Their first album was great and it still is. Second was good too, but I do blame their management at that time (they're back in the good hand again) and the record company. I don't think they haven't done enough to promote the album. The new album is fantastic. Some tunes are good old The View, but some tunes are pretty different and new which they've never done before.
Great band, but outside Scotland they're still underrated IMO which is too shame.
haha most of those posters were mine, i gave them to pete (guitarist) when i left home, he was seeing my sister at the time. the big oasis one was for the lccc gigs, good memories from that show.
Agree with the fact that nme champion shite bands like "brother", it baffles me the view arent more recognised as a great british band..... but at the same time, nme is shite and everyone knows it.
First posted about The View way back in 2005, heres the first post, time flies.........
themasterplanet: A Northern Soul by The Verve! My second favourite album by them. I love the atmosphere of it, it’s very dreamy and melancholic and dark. It holds many memories for me and I think that’s partly responsible for why I love it so much.

AllOrNothing: Up in the Sky sounds like the La's on steroids, especially that Liam Falsetto that I can almost picture Lee Mavers singing with all his big teeth showing

Bring It On Dan: I have so much shit on an old hard drive somewhere but I just cannot find it. Nothing 'out there' but probably 200 gigs or so. I can't remember the name of the site that had all the gigs listed and sources for loads of gigs next to it? I remember RKID 003.

mimmihopps: Bring It On Dan, it must be sadsong.net. I don't know if the site still exists.

gottabecrazy: RKID003 was a great resource, they shared a lot there there really. I wish something similar could be up again.
