Imagine listening to an album for the first time, without having heard a single review,a single opinion on any song and just listen without having any idea about what you are going to hear........and then listen songs like LIVE FOREVER,THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING IDLE,CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA for the first time.......that's what i am going to do for noel's record.....

^ Wow...really?
So when Noel starts working up to his record you are just gonna leave the board? You're not going to listen to any of his singles either?

im on the fence as to whether ill listen. quality is important. i listened to dig out your soul but it was unmastered or something when it leaked. and it was really quiet. i couldnt get it cranked in headphones and it kinda sucked as a result. the official release was light years better.

If i hear accidentally his first single on radio or tv.....i will try to avoid it..not one review, not one song description,nothing.....that is the best and purest way to listen to a new album from a favourite artist....

The album will leak very soon.
Press copies will be out. Promotional copies will be floating around and "lost".
Once the album has gone gold, and has left the band member and producers exclusivity - it's out there for the world to see.

Don't worry about me man, I won't allow myself to be "set up." Though I am very eager to hear the album, as I said before, I'm not gonna go in expecting to hear Definitely Maybe, WTSMG, or something like that. If it miraculously turns out to be as good -- or even close to as good -- as those two records, I'll obviously be thrilled, but all I'm really hoping for is a solid debut album that I can enjoy listening to.

The number of copies needed to go gold is different for every single country so I don't know where you got 500,000 from ;D And yes the post you were replying to made no sense either ;D

I've seen the phrase "gone gold" for videogames. Think it means the physical copies have gone into full production.

Sorry by gone "gold" I wasn't referring to sales, I was just using that expression with regards to the CD going into production for the eventual distribution to retailers and media. The term is usually used for video game releases and I thought you might deduce what I meant considering the album isn't on sale I presume the media already have the album (or will do very soon). It only takes one - of the many - publications all over the world to copy it to his hard drive and then put it up online. I'd rather this didn't happen as it came harm hype and sales, however I'll be buying the album anyway so it would just mean I hear the album ahead of schedule. I'd imagine that someone in a publication who is a big Oasis fan would find it hard not to leak it.

Thanks for the explanation, guy above me. (aaronon, I think?) I'm not that familiar with video game terms (I play Beatles: Rock Band and some old games, but not really very much). And I don't think leaking hurts sales that much. It doesn't help, really, but if someone doesn't care enough to pay for the album, they're not going to buy it the day it comes out because it hasn't leaked yet. They'll just wait a day or so for someone to upload it to the internet and then get it then. I hope I didn't spark a debate about illegal downloading, though. It's very tired as a subject to me. It is what it is. As an artist myself, I just decided to throw my album on the internet for free so as many people can hear as possible. It's just the way it all works now.

I know everyone is eager to hear it but a leak really does ruin the experience of buying the album from the shops and eagerly anticipating listening to it when you put it in your CD player. I hope to God it doesn't leak but if it does I won't be listening to it until I get my own copy.
I hope you all buy your album rather than downloading it for free. You're meant to be fans - support the band guys!!!

^The reason why I come here everyday is to keep up with the news, reviews, previews, and hoping there's a thread titled "Leaked!"
I wouldn't do this for any other band. That's why I can call myself a fan

theres no release date in the US yet, so i'll be downloading when it leaks so i can listen to it, i'll end up buying an import, or getting it though the beady eye store, but since i'll have to wait a few extra weeks for the import to get to me, i'll be downloading the leak.

I thinks its got to a stage now where people dont really have to justify their decision, downloading the leak is not really a moral question since most people will eventually pay for the album when its possible, its more of a question of whether you want to enjoy the anticipation abit longer or not,
still though it hasnt leaked yet,

Of course I'll buy the album no matter what...even if it leaked in top quality. If it's some shitty low-quality leak I'll skip it...if I manage

I don't really get any joy from anticipation. I'll download it as soon as it leaks, I would imagine, but naturally I'll pick it up when it's released. I think Beady Eye might need all the sales they can get. Oasis styled music without a lot of the Oasis fan base. It'll be very interesting.

I waited for DBTT's official release and it was torture. Then to make things worse it didn't arrive on time anyway (I'd pre-ordered it) so I didn't hear it until about a week after the release.
For DOYS I thought "fuck that" and downloaded it. I'll be doing the same for DGSS, especially since the tour starts a few days after the release and it'll be a bit shite if nobody knows the songs.

what the heck is up with the US release. Is it cause beady eye needs a distributor for over here?

Ah... I still remember heading to buy Morning Glory on cassette the day of release... Our Price in Salisbury at 9am, making me late for school... and then got home, played it, and thought "what is this rubbish??"....
... I didn't think that a week or so later when it had bedded in and I had appreciated it wasn't another DM!
Oh to have that naivety now... but Beady Eye is exciting me in a way Oasis haven't in a long, long time... since SOTSOG!
