How did Weller go from something like The Jam to something so different (And in my opinion, shit) in The Style Council?
I've only just recently got into The Jam and Weller and was after some other opinions from you guys.

Some bad things Some good things (bloodsports, ...)
The first time I heard A Man of Great Promise was live with Jools Holland and I thought it was one of his best songs. Few years later, I found the studio version from the Style Council : it was awful.

Style Council were really good when they were good and really shit when they were shit. They have some amazing tunes: Walls Come Tumbling Down, You're The best Thing, Internationalists, Come to Milton Keynes, etc.

Although I've been a huge fan of The Jam and Weller for years and years, I couldn't get into The Style Council. To me The Style Council was the dark shadow of Weller's whole career, but without Style Council there would have been no Weller like he is now. They did have some great tunes and honestly I did really enjoy when he played "Shout To The Top" on his recent tour.

The Jam are in my top ten or fifteen all-time favorite bands. The Style Council are in my all-time least favorite.

"Shout to the Top".
Worth the rest of the shit he did with that band.
