I have to say I'm really impressed by the production on the Beady Eye stuff I've heard so far.
There's a real clarity and freshness to the sound and Liam's vocals on The Roller in particular are brilliant, Steve Lillywhite's really managed to get some of that tenderness back.
So much better than Dave Sardy's work on DBTT and DOYS, which to me just sounded messy. What does everyone else think?

I agree, but for the reason the band sound like there having more fun. Just look at Chris Sharrock in the videos, pointing sticks and giving the camera the eye. I dont think Noel would want that in Oasis and the looks of Andy and Gem during the Oasis days looked like they were just plodding along. I think the making of an Oasis album became a chore for Liam, Andy and Gem with Noel calling the shots and the freshness of what we have heard so far is the band being allowed to express themselves more and Lilywhite has channelled into that.

The songs we've heard so far have raw production, dave sardy's tracks were far more complex and layered than these tracks. DBTT and DOYS sound a lot better.

Oasis always sounded best when you got the feeling they where playing right there in your livingroom.
Lillywhite has sort of captured that feeling with Beady Eye. It's definitely a step up from DBTT and DOYS.

Production sounds a little flat on some of the previews. Nothing mindblowing as of yet. Dave Sardy did an amazing job as producer with Oasis. Everything had so much texture and so many layers. Dig Out Your Soul was probably their best album production wise considering how the album flows and has so many layers (Falling Down). I think a lot of you guys forgot that DBTT was Oasis attempting to go with a more acoustic sound. So pretty much every Oasis album is exactly how the Gallaghers wanted it.

dig out your soul is easily their best produced record followed by standing on the shoulder of giants.

Lillywhite's production has been brilliant - not surprising at all when you hear his previous work with U2 and Morrissey. I think it's better than the boring flat production of Dave Sardy.

It's definitely a step up from DBTT and DOYS. Totally agree, afterall that's the sound they wanted for Oasis at the very beginning I think they wanted to sound "fresh", so they couldnt go in with a polished sound as Oasis's last offerings

I think that the DGSS production fits the vibe of the tracks we have heard so far.
Having said that. I thought DOYS production was brilliant for that album. It would have sounded rubbish with the more raw production that DGSS has.
I think it's better than DBTT though since the tunes seem comparable.

Sardy did a good job, DBTT sounded a little rough because it was recorded in 3 or 4 different places and was hard to mix the tracks together. He got DOYS bang on, suited the album perfectly and I love how there are literally no gaps, could almost be one long track.
Lillywhite again has done well en capturing the vibe. The two issues would be Beady Eye getting into debut album mode, that he covered by the majority of the album being recorded in live takes and the second issue would be Liam's voice. Rough and very live vocals mean album & live tracks will sound similar.
His previous work with U2 & The La's is making me very excited to hear these tracks.

i think lillywhite is doing a fantastic job. the songs aren't flat by any means, unlike, say, hc or dbtt. he was a great choice.

I am liking the production of BE songs, Lillywhite is doing a good job, sounds like The La's album production.
Dave Sardy production on DBTT was little flat, some songs were too loud like KTDA and others too quiet like GGTIA, but the production on DOYS was great, his finest work, many layers and little sounds here and there.

I love how there are literally no gaps, could almost be one long track. Love albums like that, infact all albums should be like that. Save gaps for greatest hits. Nothing better than some dude walking down the beach for half an hour half way through a record.

Yeah for me on an album the majority of tracks should roll into one another. Some obviously cant do that, but as long as they are close that's OK.
Save the edits for the radio and the single. You can't beat listening to Bag It Up & The Turning, if nobody mentioned they were two different tracks you would hardly recognise.

i think the production is anything but flat. on the roller everything sounds ALIVE. the vocals and everything sounds crisp and punchy. nothing is muffled at all like HC

Sardy did a fine job. Just a different style of producers.
Sometimes, I don't think people appreciate the quality of music that is on DBTT and DOYS.
Lillywhite's production is cleaner, but not necessarily better.
