Four Letter Word 7,5/10 Millionaire 7/10 - doesn't really go anywhere, but flows nicely and Liam sounding sweet and relaxed with the acoustics in the background The Roller 8,5/10 - loving everything except Liams voice in the 'aw aw' bits in the chorus Beatles and Stones 7,5/10 - actually liked this one, it's got a BTL-kinda-piano in it, i like the 'Well it beats me, mama' bit, like Liam's voice in it Wind Up Dream 6/10 - skip track for me, nothing that interesting melody-wise, some ok lyrics though (i like what i see, with my eyes closed..) Bring the Light 7/10 For Anyone 8/10 - short, but nice and lovely. Don't expect a complicated, long song after the 30 sec's preview, but still nice. Kill for a Dream 8/10 - great, sad intro with just an acoustic guitar and and organ, liked the verses and because the chorus was so introvert, the nickelback-vibe some people felt (including me) in the preview dissapears when hearing the whole song. Guitar riff after the chorus reminderd me off the DBTT riffs in KTDA and The Cage. Standing on the Edge of the Noise 5/10 - very average verses (i was expecting kick ass in our face melody, but it was a bit bland), annoying sound and voice effect Wigwam 9/10 - as said: could grow on me to become even more than a 9 (or less). A long track with 3 different parts, of which we've heard a piece the first part. Very weird middle part, think 'Day in the life' 2nd part kinda weird (but shorter). Then silence, a slow drum pattern repeating, song looks like its dying. Then speeding up and Liam singing 2 lines (which we've heard in Bring The Light) over and over again, with a psychedelic build-up and feel to it, instruments kickin in, etc. Three Ring Circus 8/10 - cool guitars riffs and solo parts, great singing (loved the 'under my thumb' part in de preview already), a Beatlesque chorus with Liam singing 'threeeee' very high. Beat Goes On 9,5/10 - could have been a 10 if it wasn't for the somewhat cheesy chorus lyrics. But man what a classic this was for me. The song just breethed out brilliance in every aspect. Great na-na-na's in it (or la-la-la, can't remember). The Morning Son 7,5/10 - didn;t like the preview, but 2nd part of the song the drums kick in and it all ends up in a great 'goodbye' kinda way with all kinds of sounds and effects. Indeed a bit like Soldier On, but with more to it. So, there you have it. Can't fucking wait to hear it again. There's lots of stuff i need to re-hear, lots to discover, lots of different pieces and bits. I loved it. Someone PM me as soon as the thing leaks

Tanks man, we owe you! Weird that you don't like SOTEOTS, it was the first song to get stuck into my head when I heard the previews! Guess I'll be disappointed about that... Never thought TBGO would be so good, in the preview the melody is beautiful, but the lyrics were so-so so I wasn't expecting too much from it. But it seems that in general, the album is even better than the previews (which I already liked a lot), so I really can't wait!!

Thanks kingjohn.
I'm really eager to hear TBGO because of how you talk about it.
Glad to hear what you said about Kill for a Dream as well! I like the preview but i was getting a bit worried with all the Nickleback comparisons.

Kingjohn, I heard you did covers for DBTT before it came out. Is there any chance you could do the same for DGSS? Sorry if I'm asking too much!
Cheers

You compare Wigwam to A Day In The Life? Man, that sounds promising! Thanks for the review, I can't wait to hear the album.

I'm guessing it's going to be another DBTT with a rawer production, and weaker lyrics but more melodies. I like it!
It's very comforting that Beatles And Stones is a nice track. I was worried because it would have seriously undermined the flow of the album if it was another AGN. A bit disappointing that SOTEOTN has bland verses though. I really liked the powerful chorus.
Thank you for the review kingjohn.

Cheers kingjohn.
Yeah, I'm now looking even more disappointingly at SOTEOTN. The 30 seconds sounds pretty bad, and now the review bills it as the worst song on the album.
I found it interesting that Beatles and Stones was rated 7.5 as I thought that would easily be poor filler, too. It could very well be decent filler and on the borderline to being a solid tune. Time will tell.
Disappointed that For Anyone doesn't develop fully, as those 30 seconds sound ace, but it seems like it's a nice song anyway, going off of the review.
And yes, I agree with suwonist - this album does have some sort of DBTT feel to it. Although I can't personally indicate why that is.

Cheers kingjohn. And yes, I agree with suwonist - this album does have some sort of DBTT feel to it. Although I can't personally indicate why that is. perhaps its because its more acoustic and summery like For Anyone seems kinda like LLAB and the rockers seem a little more vintage and fuzzy sounding like Beatles and Stones is kinda like MF.

Thanks for the review, any chance you know who wrote what on the album? As a guess judging from everything ive heard now id say Liam: Bring the light For anyone Wigwam The beat goes on The morning son Gem: Four-Letter word (with liam having a big hand in the lyrics) The roller Beatles and stones Standing on the edge of noise Andy: Millionaire Wind up dream kill for a dream Three ring circus
I could be completely wrong but that sounds about right to me

Seems like both King John and Dutchie say that there's two stone cold classics on the album - Wigwam and Beat Goes On. This bodes very well considering these two lads' past history...

I'm leaving for 3,5 weeks holiday in Laos tomorrow. Would anyone be so nice to PM me a download link once the album has leaked? Then i can download it somewhere in an internetcafé (where they don't have bittorrent and all) and put it on my MP3-player straight away, enjoying it facing the mekong and holding a cold Beerlao.
