I've got to say, the more I listen to the song the more I feel it's a total rip-off... it doesn't sound like a Gem written song at all. I'll hold my opinion 'til I hear the entire album. I hope it won't sound like a bag of stolen songs without one collective sound.

If you don't like The Roller, BDI is very probably the wrong band for you. It is very close to the musical style of Noel's Oasis songs, though. And, as some have mentioned already, it is indeed a lot harder to write a totally original song now than in the 1960s or 70s.

Just don't understand why The Roller is worse than Noels pillaging over the years. Two wrongs don't make a right. Noel is not the benchmark by which everything should be judged. Everything he did was not right therefore somebody can be criticized for something even if Noel did it first |

I would like to point out that PYMWYMI and HH are both rubbish in my books. Putting them up as evidence that TR shouldn't be criticized is counter productive.
Personally I don't listen to music that way...so the rip off doesn't bother me too much though

I think people tend to overprotect the beatles. True to a point. But I dont think thats the full reason behind some of this back lash. If that were the case then most would not be Oasis fans. I think it was the extent that it was done and fact that BDI really didnt add anything to it. For all of Noel's ripping, he did input his own ideas into and made the song somewhat original (even though there is no such thing as bieng truely original of course). But its hard to listen to the The Roller and find BDI. Everytime I listen to it, I think "its a great song, now I need to hear some Instant Karma" There is really no hint of being original or at least putting your own personal stamp on something. Just isnt there. Its BDI, doing second tier imitation of Lennon. Song is still good, but thats what it is. |

Maybe the only reason I liked Oasis was because of Noels songwriting. Gee, ya think? He only wrote the fist 4 albums, start to finish (except for Little James). Liam was an amazing frontman before he turned into a (very bad) John Lennon impersonator. |

The way some you guys(i mean haters) layout your 2 cents, seems like you don't realize that you can pretty much take any song on the radio right now and compare the similarities to another song or two or three!!!---example: you ever notice ...muse's uprising is stolen or borrowed(however you wanna put it) from the *original dr who theme song* and blondie's 'call me'.
there's nothing harmful with LG sounding like JL but he does'nt always sound like Jl...just depends on the song!!?
i'm not really interested in originality-with bands...it's more of the whole good musicianship for me...and really no one can sound original any longer, everythings been made!!...the sudburbs(from arcade fire will tell you)
