Mr Gallagher specialises in adept pastiches of the songs of yesteryear. Those that do not sound uncannily like the Beatles sound spookily like the Rolling Stones. . But he is wrong to conclude from this that he would have rivalled them had he been around in their day.
from todays TELEGRAPH, what do you think ?

i really don't understand the constant comparisons with the Beatles. i just don't think they sound similar at all. certain songs do, of course, like all around the world, etc. but most don't. when did oasis ever write songs that sound like I wanna Hold your Hand or Get Back? i think they sound more like rolling stones, but again i would'nt say they were too similar.
considering how influential those two bands were on both the Gallagher brothers, i don't know if Noel would of rivalled them in their day. if those bands had'nt existed then its a good bet that oasis would'nt of either.
but i do think he deserves equal standing with them. he's as good as anyone else around imo. in terms of songwriting. he does'nt have the political influence of the likes of Lennon.
does anyone else think they sound like the beatles?

oh yeah they have their moments. i must admit i totally forgot about the harmonies - they do copy the beatles in that area and yes liam is sounding a lot like john these days ;D but still Oasis are known for their "wall of sound" which i don't think the beatles had. and you can't compare McCartneys bass playing style with either guigsy's or andy bell's, and i've always thought McCartney's playing had a big effect on the beatles sound. but i'm open to change my mind if you can convince me
