For anyone, Wigwam, The beat goes on, The Morning Son
Everytime I listen to them I feel like hugging someone
It's obvious that Liam has a good ear to write beautiful melodies (even Little James). Probably, even more than his brother. Sure Noel's songs are brilliant and is a much better songwriter, but his tracks lack some of the softness that Liam is able to put into his songs.
Thoughts?
And I ask the people who come to this forum just to say that BTL and FLW are shit not to post in this thread, or at least don't post that in here. Thanks. Just trying to change the bad vibe towards BDI that I feel by reading the threads.

totally agree.
I said before how I was surprised by how much acoustic is on the album. These tunes are going to sound amazing when we finally get them in full.
Musically this album will sound much more cheerful than DOYS especially!

I think the clips we got have some really interesting melodies and I can't wait to hear the songs in full.
I'm not quite sure I agree with Liam having more of an ear for beuatiful melodies than Noel, I just think Noel has chosen not to release songs like that for a while. I reckon some of the unreleased songs Noel played at soundchecks have equally, if not better, melodies than what we've heard from Liam.

At last! Great post by the way
Yeah these songs sound pretty special to me, it sounds like it could be quite an album, I've listened to the iTunes clips quite a few times but have had to stop meself as I don't wanna spoil the album, I wanna almost forget the melodies, lyrics & all that & just listen to it from start to finish with my lovely big headphones really loud whilst browsing the album notes etc, that to me is what it's all about & in

"The Morning Son" is the song that's stuck in my head. Love the melody and the way Liam sings it! Btw, all the songs you mentioned have a very nice melody. Haven't listened to the clips more than five times, and not gonna listen more I think.

it's not that hard to write a nice melody, there a fucking thousands songs out there with decent melodys. but in the end, the songs are quite rubbish aswell. don't lift liams skills to high.
noels demos and soundchecks has more potential, then these 30 seconds clips

There are a few beautiful melodies. Hope the album follows through.
Saying that Liam has in any way a better sense of melody in any way than Noel I don't quite buy into though. Best I could say with any amount of honesty is that they could be equal.

^ that's called sitting on the fence lol 'tis true. If I am honest I think that Noel is better @ melody. But the thread called for positivity so I trying to oblige.

The best part of Liam's songwriting has always been melody. Even Little James has a decent melody. If he could collaborate with an excellent lyricst there would be amazing songs written

^ don't get me wrong I think Liam has a great sense of melody...but to say that he is better @ it than his brother is a bit of a stretch for me...that's all.

Keeping an open mind about the Beady Eye album, which sounds not bad, Liam cannot touch Noel as a songwriter.

Let's just say that Liam really has progressed a lot over the years as a songwriter. And that's perhaps even an understatement? We'll see when the album comes out Although, to compare him to Noel in regards to melodies is a bold statement. Noel literarely defined a whole era with his melodies, and has written at least one (Understatement as well) melodies that is instantly recognizable to those that wasn't even fans of the band (Wonderwall). A world melody or something like that It's gonna be very very hard for Liam to top that.

no one ever beat wonderwall. it's the perfect popsong. the melody, the lyrics, the voice. just outstanding. it doesn't get the recognition that it deserves

even though it sounds like a beatles rip off, I love how Liam delivers that line in The Beat Goes On "Though I'd know just what to do" - sounds awesome!!!!!

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Getting a little ahead of ourselves here, aren't we? Noel not only has a far better sense of melody than Liam, he has a far better sense of melody than 99% (if not 100%) of professional songwriters everywhere. Don't make me list his gorgeous melodies. His fuckin' B-Sides in the 90's could've been singles for other bands... Half The World Away, Listen Up, Acquiesce, anyone?

As far as Liam having a certain softness that Noel doesn't? Uh... Talk Tonight, Idler's Dream, Sad Song, Take Me Away, Half The World Away, Cast No Shadow, Don't Go Away, The Masterplan, Going Nowhere, You've Got The Heart Of a Star... dunno what you're talking about.
