came across this old Virgin poll today : probably old news to most but it does surprise me a bit , it's from 2001: The poll was bad news for today's rock'n'rollers, with 60% of Brits arguing that music is less exciting today than it was in the 60's or 70's. Oasis were thought the worst offenders, blamed by more than a third of voters, beating Blur and Toploader into second and third place as worst modern band. full poll: www.virgin.net/newsroom/mediareleases/ageingrockers.html

it's a bit surprising because Virgin Radio listeners once voted Don't Look Back In Anger as the greatest song of all time. but then again i think 2000/2001 were the worst years i have ever known for new music. though 98 and 99 were pretty bad! 95 to 97 those were the golden years ;D
