I think 3/5 is a fair rating. Before anyone says I hate the song, I don't. I really like it. But I'm going by this scale:

5 - Classic song, very few reach this.
4 - Brilliant song, good on every level, just not quite at that upper tier.
3 - Good song, definitely not skip-worthy. Quality listening.
2 - Below average. Track to skip.
1 - Repulsed by the song. Don't ever want to hear it again.

All things considered, Four Letter Word is definitely a good track that I'll enjoy hearing when I listen to the album. However, it drags on at the end. That definitely prevents it from being a 3.5/5, for example. I hope that the boys have the good sense to know when to end a song, because so far they don't (Bring the Light was 90 seconds too long).

Songs a solid B for me...3.5 on my 5 point scale. If there's 4-5 that equal or (gasp) best it, we're pretty much guaranteed a long-term listener.

I like the lyrics and the guitars on it.. is not such a great melody isn...it....... I say is a good effort,,,,, has attitude which obviously suits Liam,,, just seems poor melodywise in my opinion.. But i have to admit I wasnt expecting it.... ill give it a 4/5..... trying as hard as i can to not compare it to Oasis... which is measure up i supposed to theyre 2000's period... as what it is... an opening track..
