Just wondering what everyone's current favourite ten bands are on this forum. Would be interesting to see. Anyway, here's mine:
1. Oasis 2. The Smiths 3. U2 4. The Beatles 5. The Stone Roses 6. REM 7. Coldplay 8. The La's 9. Idlewild 10. Franz Ferdinand
Honourable mentions who would make it on another time: Travis, Echo and the Bunnymen, Arcade Fire, Frightened Rabbit, Elbow, The Kinks.
The top two are most definitely my favourite bands and change places now and again.
Anyway, I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas.

some other artists that just missed the cut The Killers: if they make one more great album then they will probably crack it Stone Roses: there one classic album is almost good enough to propel them but not quite Ryan Adams: so many great albums The Who: fucking love them to death its just i'm not in a classic rock phase right now Led Zeppelin: same as above Cat Power: my favorite female singer Doves: four solid albums do count for something

Amazes me how so many people here get The Smiths and yet so few get Joy Division... 1. I do love Joy Division 2. The Smiths and Joy Division are not same although the lyrics by Moz and the ones by Ian Curtis do have common - dark, miserable and honest. and Cast, I really love Cat Power. She's amazing. She's one of my most favourite female musicians too next to Patti Smith.

I'm pleasantly surprised at the number of Bruce fans. Never would've guessed I'd see so many on an Oasis forum.
