..about how Oasis were "so set in stone" And he stated that being in Beady eye is much more freeing ( From NME) Its like Oasis had to have so many rockers per album, so many im outta time style ballads. Psychedelic mid tempo songs etc.. they boxed themselves into a corner a bit...
With these Beady Eye clips, it seems that they are willing to do any style. Uptempo ballads. and some things we surely have not heard before stylewise from Oasis..
some people have said it sounds like Lennon's Solo work. Like oasis. obligatory-sounds like Beatles- Observations.. but i think in the process of working with a bonafide producer, and being willing to attempt whatever style suits the song, they are creating and defining their own sound. and in this process they end up sounding like, well, Beady Eye.

I don't think Beady Eye had a preconceived idea about how the album should sound before they knew what songs they had. It seems to me they feel free to take what songs they have, make the best of them, and not worry about if there are a certain number of up-tempo tracks, ballads, or whatever. I think they feel free to just put the best songs on there, which should benefit them and us in the end.

I think the second album is the crucial point. With this one, they've a chance to clear out the backlog of stuff they wanted to use for Oasis but couldn't, and bits of new stuff. The big test is if they can write a whole album of new material. They'll be more aware of their preferred sound as well. I think it'll come out incredibly fast as well, if they pick up momentum, they'll want to keep it, in the way that many new bands do, Oasis included.

I imagine the first album will be strong, as with most bands, because they have 10 or so years worth of songs backed up. Then they start pretty much from scratch for the 2nd one

That's assuming that they don't have lots of songs written that could be put on to a second album. Noel did for WTSMG, so there's no reason why Liam, Andy & Gem won't have a few more songs kept aside for album number two.

I don't think they have cleared out their backlog in 1 album. Liam has been writing songs for over 10 years (not including his short go @ writing before Noel joined Oasis). Andy and Gem probably more like 20 years.
This is a new band...but they aren't new artists. They don't have to follow the same direction as a young debuting band.
I think that the second album will be almost more important than the first. To see if they can grow without losing the magic. That is assuming there is magic in the first album...but lets not count our chickens before they hatch.

I've said for a while that although Noel's album will probably be of a higher quality, I'm looking forward to Beady Eye's more as their Oasis songs were always a bit different and unconventional. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, but they didn't follow the same pattern that Noel's did.

Which pattern ?
Noel was almost the only one to make experiments.

Of course we can assume they've collectively got more than 13 songs in their pockets, but one can only assume these are the best they've got stored up. To say otherwise is pure guesswork. So they may end up "pulling a Vines" (not writing any new songs for the second album) but I question the intelligence of such a move.
