My friend showed me this video today, and it blew me away. I wikied them, and all their albums have gotten amazing amazing reviews. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hold_Steady#Studio_albums --> Click on each album, and look at those reviews on the right hand side. Just downloaded their first album, will give that a spin soon.

This track - from their debut - is incredible in every sense. My mind is currently being blown
^The guitar solo for the outro is immense.
EDIT: Their second album is a very clever concept album.

Fucking awesome band. They get better as they go, in my opinion (excepting this year's album, Heaven Is Whenever). I'd rank the albums like this:
Boys And Girls In America > Stay Positive > Heaven Is Whenever > Separation Sunday > Almost Killed Me
Yeah, they're a band you can get lost in, because of the depth and cleverness of the lyrics.

Holy crap. Boys and Girls of America is a top top top album. Loving Chill Out Tent - the exchange of vocals is incredible. (Stuck Between Stations, Hot Soft Light, First Night, Party Pit are all stunning too)
What a band.

Just listened to Stay Positive. Another great album. My favorite is still Boys And Girls In America (has to be up there with the best album of the 00s), but Stay Positive isn't far behind.
Onto their 5th and most recent tomorrow. What a hidden gem this band is

I've listened to the albums in order cos he refers to previous songs (and characters) in some of the latter ones. But if you want their best album, go with Boys And Girls In America (highlight tracks from that one include: Stuck Between Stations, First Night, Chillout Tent....Chips Ahoy, Hot Soft Light and Party Pit are really good too. It's an awesome album)

From their 4th album. This is a proper anthem.

^ Melodically I would say "good but nothing special" is an apt description. Lyrically, Craig Finn is miles ahead of anything Noel could dream of.

Been listening to them nonstop again. What a mighty good and vastly underrated band.

Gotta give them a listen. The singer's vocals are not convincing me, though
