I am really liking the preview clips, they sound great but I'm afraid I'll be annoyed by Liam's vocal style. It sounds like he's singing through his nose a lot.. It's something that wasn't present on DOYS..

Absolutely. Thought DOYS was a very strong record in regards to Liam's vocal and I totally agree with your through the nose assessment.
I truely love Liam's voice but this is the most disappointed I've been with it so far.

I don't agree, songs like 'For Anyone', Liam sounds incredible, I haven't heard him sing like that on an album for ages. Yes he does go in to Lennon mode now and again but he sounds brilliant with it, from the clips he sounds better than DOYS imo, he seems to be singing more rather than forcing it out.

At the end of every line he goes "aw-aw-ha-hawn" instead of saying the word 'on' for example. And it's all through the nose.
There were a couple of moments from the clips when I thought 'Aye he's sounding good there' but for the most part he was genuinely the most nasaly singer I've ever heard... I can only imagine that the people who already don't like his voice because of this will only feel it more

I can't fault his vocals, and can only praise what I have heard of him so far from these clips - especially on For Anyone where he sounds beyond monumental.

For anyone is really great vocal...the soft songs generally sound pretty good vocally to me of DGSS. But that isn't the whole story. It's the ones with more energy that are the problem. I, too, wish that when Liam did his attitude filled sneering thing he didn't start singing through his nose. It kinda grates on me because I really want to like his voice...but sometimes I don't think he has a clue what makes it so great. I am convinced he is capable of better if he were to take the time and work for it.
I don't know why he does it...wish he wouldn't.

I think he sounds good.
There's a photo of Liam in the studio (RAK video that was on the French iTunes) - Liam is SAT DOWN whilst at the mike - think he's only done that before with Songbird and Im Outta Time
this is visible in his voice as he's singing "lighter" than usual on most of those songs

I was JUST about to make a thread about this.
Liam sounds REALLY nasal. He had a real bad rasp during Don't Believe The Truth, and lost it PLUS lost the nasal during Dig Out Your Soul where he sounded incredi-fucking-ble but in these clips his voice is just plain annoying man :S

I like this vocal style. It's lighter, how he sang Wonderwall on the DOYS tour. For anyone is amazing, but his voice was probably heavily edited. SOTEOTN is the one where he needs to put in some extra energy, which he does, but the vocals get a bit suppressed in the album mix, so it sounds a bit weak. I love the sound of the album so far, but let's not get carried away because for all we know loads of songs are as repetitive as Soldier On.

Liam ruins this album totally. It just is as simple as that. He should stop singing. It is a disgrace to his reputation to put out horrible vocals like this.

This is really baffling reading this, Liam sounds fucking brilliant, he's hitting much higher notes in this album to start with, Liam's always kind of sung through his nose, it's nothing new. I'm listening to The Turning as I'm writing this, he sounds more nasaly in that song then any of DGSS, He's always been nasaly though, that's part of his voice. I think most people are impressed with Liam's vocals on the clips anyway.
