Everyone is hot on the trail of these 30 second snippets and opinions are flying out at every turn, so does anyone else notice that the anthemic rockers are missing?
It appears that Noel was the writer of the stadium rock worthy tracks, because there doesn't seem to be a single one on this album. Not that I mind, just something I noticed.
Lennon never really rocked too much on his albums. A song or two was all you'd get, the rest would be more chill, melody based tunes. I find it interesting that this is the way it has gone, post Oasis.

Yeah Liam has never been very adept at writing successful rocker, they usually end up as turd like Ain't Got Nothin', but he has a great ear for melody as Songbird, I'm Outta Time, Love Like A Bomb, etc prove

Considering the fact that none of LAG's Oasis output I would classify as great stadium anthems...I'm glad they didn't try to do that.
I always thought that was a Noel strength. Sad thing is that Noel seemed less enamoured with Stadium rock type songs over the past couple albums. I am doubting we will get the rocking anthems on his solo effort either.

Lennon is what I'd compare it to.
Noel wrote those anthems because they had something to shout about and they wanted to do things, so expressed that in the songs

considering the last stadium anthem we got was LBL. oof. Bottom of barrel was hit in that regard, we're good now.

^ Nah, that was much more of a Beatlesque ballad than an anthem. Lyla would be the last of that sort.
And I'm glad the boys aren't trying to ape DLBIA or Little By Little. What nonsense that would be. Good on them for writing their own stuff the way they want to.

Anyone that was expecting don't look back in angers and champagne supernovas was seriously deluded.
And don't say there are no "anthems" just yet. I Think most of the clips are the verses and they fade out just before the chorus.

Seems like it have rockers, but not heavy ones, maybe excepting Standing On The Edge Of The Noise.

I'm glad they didn't try for more heavy rockers. Liam had his go in the past and has come up well short. Glad that they stuck to what they are seemingly good at - nice melodic songs.
SOTEOTN seems to be the only true rocker on there - let's see how that one turns out in full.

I actually agree with OP, however i must point out that Noel wasn't really writing any "stadium anthems" himself anymore either, so there you go... and no, i don't consider Waiting for the turning, bAG IT UP or The Turning as "anthems", they never actually played those live anyways, did they? lol now if you wanna go back to DBTT era, then Lyla i guess ... but then again, you had TuTS which was written by Andy.
This whole notion of "Noel is gone and so are the proper rock anthems" is nothing but bullshit.

This whole notion of "Noel is gone and so are the proper rock anthems" is nothing but bullshit. TuTS was a great song...not an anthem though. DOYS had no anthems but that was purposefully done. Last proper anthem was definitely Lyla. Noel didn't even want that on DBTT. I am sure Noel could still write a good anthem and I think he would still be good @ it...but I think he lost enthusiasm for it. Andy, Gem, and Liam however don't seem given to writing big anthems. Doesn't mean thy aren't good writers...just that they don't write anthems in the spirit of Oasis-type anthems. It's nothing wrong with BDI but none of the song seem anthemic to me though.

i think 'keep the dream alive' would have been a great live anthem, if it had ever been performed live.

Oasis haven't done "anthemic rockers" since Heathen Chemistry and quite frankly I can't blame Noel for growing bored of writing the same song over and over again.
Oasis moved on. What a shame you missed it.

Wait and see I say, I defo Hear anthems in there. It depends which part of the song the clip is taken from. These songs are going to be epic.
I will be interested to see all the opinions changing on here. Some of the comments are just crazy. It's Lennon esq?... Omg!.. It's no big fuckin shock man!
The Morning Son for example I think is going to be mega! SOTEOTN is glam rock, bounce at a gig rock n roll from what I can tell.

wasn't born on a different cloud written by Liam? Yes! It's actually a great tune and underrated in my opinion. Again it's got those La La La's that Liam is fond of. But great tune non the less.

I agree, 'keep the dream alive" was wasted away, should've been a single. Every person I ever played it for loved it. I also feel that we should reserve judgment until we hear the full songs.

How come he never does the La La La's live ever? Don't tell me the 'guy who puts the word in-front of him' doesn't put them ;D
