I'm gonna be honest - those brazilian kids from The Outs had better tunes than this. And the vocalist sounded better too. In your opinion. Of course it's his opinion. He doesn't need to add "IMO" for everyone to know it's his opinion. Everything everyone says is opinion.

That was a genuinely great song, better than anything I've heard from these clips. I used to listen to anything with Liam's voice on it but I really don't like it anymore. His timbre's completely gone and his delivery's ugly. The Roller stands out as being a particularly poor vocal. Disappointed with the clips on the whole. The lack of a decent songwriter has become glaringly obvious. All sounds a bit generic.

The Roller isn't closed to the worst clip vocally IMO though...I'd think more Four Letter Word. But then listen to For Anyone. Haven't heard him sound that sweet since the early 90's.

I was really curious to hear how Liam sounded, not so much the songs, so I quickly whipped through the clips, not stopping on any song long enough to get a sense of the song so it won't ruin the experience for me.
I have to say I'm glad Liam has changed his vocal approach. He's basically put his vocal cords through the fucking ringer for so long that he's lost so much depth in his voice. Singing a bit higher and more through the nose is a better option for me than barking out the lyrics.

Doesn't have the hooks of Noel's tunes but not bad. Better than I expected.

I've seen some people criticize Millionaire. No idea why? I'm actually really liking those 30 seconds there. I'm not getting the Nickleback vibe, either - for which I am glad! EDIT: Wind Up Dream does have that vibe.

Liking it very much, although everyone seems to like for anyone which i think is the worst song here. Millionaire isnt great either, but really liking the rest. The roller sounds phenomenal, and cant wait to hear teh rest of wigwam as its apparently a 6 minute phsychedelic song

I know these are only 30 second clips but im really encouraged by what ive heard, these sound even better than the DOYS clips that leaked before that was released and these sound better, DOYS probably in my top 20 albums of all time so i now cant wait to hear more. Heres my take on all the songs so far: Four-Letter word: loved every bit of this ive heard so far, sounds like a typical oasis lead single Millionaire: sounds decent enough, i dont think this is the best part of the song as the rehearsal we heard a while ago from that radio station was of millionaire and that part of the song sounded much better than this The Roller: despite being an all you need is love/instant karma rip off its probally my favourite clip out of them all, i cant understand why this was held back so long, and what the hell was noel on when he said he thought HIABP was the better song out of the two? this 30 seconds of the roller shits all over every part of the full version of HIABP Beatles and Stones: got liam written all over it, doesnt really grab me too much but it seems decent enough Wind Up Dream: worst clip out of them all Bring the Light: meh... For Anyone: i absolutely love this! great melody, stunning liam vocal, not much to complain about tbh Kill for a Dream: sounds like the big sing along anthem of the album, got andy written all over it and sounds like a real winner! SOTEON: sounds like a gem tune to me, im not to keen on the effect on liam vocals but it adds a bit of energy after a few light ballady type tracks and i can see it being a monster live Wigwam: not really like NME described it, its got a bit of an im outta time vibe, definitely sounds like a great song though Three-Ring Circus: a masively improved NOR, really liking this one The beat goes on: again sounds like another really good song, and it never does an album any harm to have a great penultimate track The Morning Son: i know you cant take alot from titles but that gave me the impression of a kind of soldier on type vibe, the song however is completely different..actually im unsure about this, i cant work out of its good or really shit Man of Misery: Sounds about as much of an improvement from the demo as AGN did from its demo ie a average song polished up a bit, nice that its been released but im glad its not on the album Sons of the Stage: really really great cover! overall its pretty much what i expected a good-great album whith some real stand outs, great production and instrumentation although with a few duffers and some shit lyrics i predict it'll get mostly 7/10 ish reviews and it will please most fans

I assume that Liam and the boys must read the posts on here sometimes......if so, they can finally sigh a breath of relief after 'Bring the Light' was condemned by most quarters.......it looks like they will release an acceptable album at least.
I notice that early opinions on here were euphoric, but now seem to level out to the view that there are two or three [potential] gems, and some inevitable filler.......looks like it's definately no 'dog' on Beady Eye's hands though, so relief all round, for band and fans alike.
Nodody seems to give a shit about the Beatles 'carbon-copy' retreads: it's almost like it's welcome, and expected!

Well Well Well
In my opinion we have a "Proper" album on our hands, by that i mean a traditional album where a band makes an album without "singles" in mind, it feel like the whole thing floats so well together like flower pettle just cruising down the nile, if you get out your old stones albums & you'll hear an album like this, the stones had so called "Fillers" but they were classy, structurally great & had plenty of depth, it's not the traditional oasis or should i say Liam penned verse, bridge, chorus etc etc, looks like they've put alot of effort in & have made a great little album, don't forget we still have only heard 30 seconds for crying out loud but you can hear that these songs are a notch up & very well structured & produced brilliantly, my favourite sounding from the 30 seconds has to be Bring the lig... Only joking... The one where he sings "sitting in the back of a car" ?? Think I've got that right, can't remember which song title fits the tracks 1 to 13! Really am over the moon though & I can't wait to have my headphones on & laying on my back in the dark & letting the album do it's work, no more listens of the clips for me!!

Hard to judge a band or album based on 30 second itune clips.

^ That. I personally skimmed through them because I don't want to get things spoiled, but how anyone is saying "this is a great tune" or "this sounds like filler" is beyond me. I know what iTunes 30 second previews sound like, and they tend to not give a full picture of what the song is like, good or bad.

Anyone else think 'Beetles & Stones' sounds quite similar to this . . .
At least the little riff does, I think. Is it just me ?

Kill for a Dream is soft, Nickleback aren't really a soothing band - even their 'ballads' have a bit of roughness to them. Anyway, I've listened to the clips more than several times in the past 12 hours. As hard as it's going to be, I'm going to try not listening to them until the single/album is released. I'll probably have the occasional relapse, which is fine, but I don't want to over play these clips to the point that I start to tire of them before I even had the chance to hear the full song!

What a day man! ;D So glad to have heard these clips.
Overall I am quite impressed by this album, which is much better than what I expected. Meanwhile, the first half of the album is not as good as the second half.
Here is my review:
Overall grade 7/10
1) Four Letter Word 7/10 A good rock song to start the album. It is very Oasis. This will surely be the opening song for the gigs.
2) Millionaire 5/10 Don't really like this one, though I do understand that some do. I am bit concerned about the full version of this song which might be disappointing.
3) The Roller 9/10 Has a strong beatles vibe. Does seem a bit of a rip off, but for me this will be the most complete song of the album. Quality single which will be #1 in the UK.
4) Beatles and Stones 4/10 This is clearly a filler, and is probably the worst song on the album. I skip it each time I listen to the clips.
5) Wind up dream 6/10 Has a good vibe. Reasonably good song to listen when you're high and drunk.
6) Bring the light 7/10 Don't like the album version. But I guess live with the guitars this song will be awesome for the gigs, especially the "baby c'mon" part.
7) For Anyone 8.5/10 One of the best clips of the album. Top quality vocals from liam. Has a beatle vibe yet again. Meanwhile even though I really like the chorus (great to sing during the gigs) I am bit concerned about the full version which might be a bit light and disappointing. Furthermore I don't think Liam will be able to sing it live.
8) Kill for a dream 8.5/10 Andy song for sure. Really good, i'm liking this one. Could be a classic, but waiting for full version, as I think this is clearly the best part of the song and we might be disappointed with the rest.
9) Standing on the edge of the noise 6/10 Didn't like it at first as the production does not seem so good. But i think it's done on purpose to give it a rough sound. Could be quite cool for the gigs.
10) Wigwam 7.5/10 Seems to be a nice ballad. Even though it's not the best clip, it will probably be one of the most complete songs of the album as production seems good.
11) Three ring circus 7/10 This will be awesome live. Heavy rock at the begining but then turns out to have a strong stereophonics vibe. Good song.
12) The Beat goes on 8/10 A strong beatles vibe which made me laugh at first. The long version will surely be of high quality.
13) The morning son 7/10 A perfect closing song. Cute little song. But i have a feeling it will be very repetitive.

Yes, that's right, the album where Noel wrote the majority of the songs and sang on, that one. we shall see what happens in just a few weeks, or days, if the album leaks earlier.

I'm pleased and pleasantly surprised with what I've heard. Yes, as we've all said, they are only short clips but they ceretainly give the listener a good 'feel' for the songs. It was probably a good move to release Bring The Light first because of its contrasting sound; I think the band members' claims that there'd be lots of Jerry Lee Lewis style piano across the album was simply a red herring. Because, well, that fifties rock vibe simply isn't evident in the brief snippets we've heard (thankfully). BTL seems, thus far, the weakest track.
There are hints of the Byrds and the Stones, The Las but most obviously, The Beatles (I hear parts from Glass Onion, Get Back and a ton of guitar from Revolver- one of Liam's favourite records). Beatles and Stones is very like The Who's My Generation. For this they well cop inevitable criticism, especially from the large contingent that already dislike Oasis for their so called 'plagiarism'.
I feel the Beatles comparisons are probably more obvious and direct than with Noel's Oasis songs. Is this a bad thing? Probably not in my mind... The inspiration is there but there is a lightness of touch and yes it sounds like bollocks to say it but that 'breezy', 'summery' feel is definately there. The sludgy, distant production vibe of the least two Oasis records has been dispensed with. It's a very different record to DOYS and I think it could potentially be better than DBTT (not a favourite of mine like so many others on here).
Overall, you could say this may turn out to be a loving and carefully made ode to sixties rock in general. Not at all original and not terribly forward thinking and yes, some others mining the same genre have probably done it better but this is a solid affair that is better than I thought. I think it will garner some positive reviews for its careful crafting and 'listenability'.
We will be into the hotter end of summer here in Australia when this is released and I can happily see myself cruising around with the windows down and DGSS gracing my eardrums.
P.S: I simply will not have any comparisons, even if any exist in minute form, to Nickelback- utterly vile and completely degenerate shite!

actually the lack of a 50's vibe or motown vibe that is in BTL is something i wish there was more of. I don't want the same ol stuff. But i think Noel's will be better for creative stretching.

The best sounding clip, not knowing the whole song, is definitely Bring The Light. Check how that turned out.
And remember when the DOYS snippets leaked? I mean, c'mon.
