If done right it could be a really cool album cover, but it looks like their purposely being playful/dumb.
I think 'odd' is the best way to describe everything thus far. Hope the album is odd in an endearing way and not a "my speakers want to commit suicide" way.

Liam is on record saying years ago that the band should always appear on an album cover. Perhaps. But for a debut, I think it's even more important. Either way, it's not a big deal. Let's have the music do the talking singing. As for the title, it's a bit too blunt. Clearly a gripe to how Oasis broke up, almost wanting to convey a message to Noel that one band member can't destroy his passion. But then again, so what? It's, as the other Gallagher once said, "about the music music music"..... That was exactly what surprised me - I was sure Liam would choose a picture of the band as a cover. I do understand that they can't let them all ride on aligators though. The direct hint at Oasis is unexpected as well...It's not like "we're having a fresh new start here", more "we lost our songwriter but we're still a good band". That's not how BDI want themselves to be remembered, I'm sure. One more thing: that picture's been on the internet quite long. Google "doreen aligator ride" and you get lots of hits, from older articles as well.

What a world that would be eh? of course not but like others have said, album cover become evident from the music and how good it is. I mean Nirvana (cant stand them personally), their album with the baby swimming underwater - nothing special but it's always in these crappy charts of great album covers. And that Pink Floyd album! That crappy basic one - some kind of 70's design student's prodject

But the Beady Eye one I thought it was a bad joke at first...and I still cannot believe that's going to be released...

The album cover is fine....quirky and eccentric, like all great English rock-n-roll.
This could have been far worse......imagine if it had been called 'Coffee Table Album' or something, with a camp Liam standing in a lush mansion with his hand on his hip, with a stern stare direct to camera.......now that WOULD have been total sh*t.
I have no problems with the chosen album cover........moody shots of band members are grossly overdone and boring unless they capture the true spirit of the group, which is extremely rare to pull off successfully.
So far better to go with something weird-n-wonderful.

It tells me they're not taking themselves too seriously and having some fun with what they're doing. Let's face it, regardless of it being on the album cover, a picture of a girl riding a fucking crocodile (or alligator?) is completely ridiculous.

remember the reaction to the title "the shock of the lightning?" it's like deja vu all over again... Can someone find this thread for me? I am curious who it was and what the objection to TSOTL name was. it's a fine title and always was for me. Opinions will take care of themselves down the road. I wish people would stop bringing up TSOTL. It's just getting annoying now. I think people get it. They may change their minds. It's like beating a dead horse. Curse NL4E for bringing it up. Personally I don't find the album title bad. I was a bit disappointed that it refers back to Oasis and so doesn't stand on it's own. That is all I have to say about it. I've never been to keen on surrealism art so it isn't a shock to me that I don't like the cover art

Yeah but its true, people did go fucking crazy about the title and since thats relevant to the discussion I don't really see the problem.
It only loosely refers to Oasis imo. No problem with that. It just say's to me. Different set up, still flat out. We don't actually know why its call that yet do we?

It just say's to me. Different set up, still flat out. We don't actually know why its call that yet do we? As it stands now it seems to refer to Oasis. I would have liked for them to step away from the Oasis legacy. That has always been my opinion. I think it sounds like at least a second album title. With out it referring to Oasis it makes no sense. Different from what, still what? Now even if BDI does become a success this first album will always refer to Oasis. I want to judge BDI independent of Oasis...but they are making it difficult with stuff like this and Liams occasional quotes. You have to admit.

I think this first Beady eye record will always be compared to Oasis because it is the first post Oasis album kinda like when each Beatle released there first solo records. When Noel final gets around releasing his first solo record, that will be compared to Oasis as well. And only time will time whether this record can stand the test of time and be judged on it's own merit just like All things must and the rest of solo Beatle debuts

I personally creamed myself when i heard that DOYS lead single was 'The Shock of the Lightning'. I was like fucking hectic track name. Couldnt wait, and it was class.
Same thing happened with 'Bring the Light', I was expecting a fucking epic for a track with a name like that and BE's first showcase to the world. But unfortunately, it is a gross sounding track.
The album cover is a steaming pile of dog shit. Haven't a fucking clue what all thats about....but the album name is legit.
Look essentially here, I'm gonna have to buy the album and trip some LSD and listen to the whole thing from start to finish and then, just maybe, I might understand.

Of course as the release comes out they will be compared. But what about 10 years down the line? If BDI become a legitimate band in their own right this first record will always be a reference to Oasis. That is what I mean.
