I'm listening live to talksport via their website. They are outraged. And rightfully so.
Telling it like it is. I love it.

l4e, let's get real for a second. i'm guessing you're british today, so... while the picking of qatar is equally outrageous and disturbing (especially considering they harbored al-qaeda), it's not like england had a chance. it would overwhelm the country, especially london. forty years ago, it was a good spot, but in today's world of cheap airfare, it's too much for england to handle.

Nonsense. England can't handle it but Russia and Qatar can? Let's not forget London have the 2012 Olympics! And how about Euro96? Seemed to handle that well.....

I would love for FIFA to be investigated. What an utter farce. [And it's not about England not getting it, it's about the reasons for it and how Russia got it - Spain should be equally upset for that matter....although there wasn't a conspiracy going on with them....2 votes? Come on!]

Have you actually seen Qatar's stadium projects? They are amazing! I couldn't give two fucks about the reasons they chose Russia for 2018. I'm glad the cup will take place in somewhere new. Australia also deserved it though.

Australia also deserved it though. Qatar has no footballing legacy. There's no passion there. That curbs the atmosphere slightly. Then there's the heat. 110F is going to be miserable for players and fans a like. Then there's the size - I believe I read that there's 10 stadiums in a 60miles radius (not sure how true that is). Either way, there's not much for tourists to do. The WC is not just about the games, it's about an overall experience. And let's put that all to one side. Let's say that these problems can be overcome.....I'm fine with a new place. It's how that new place was chosen though. I, for one, believe there's a conspiracy with corruption involved here, and that's what upsets me the most. If Russia and Qatar won it on merit, then fair play. But I have suspicions that they didn't.

Please... We will never know for sure what happens behind the scenes. Instead of wondering the reasons they chose this or that country, I'd rather think about the show. I'm sure Qatar will do everything possible to be a great host. Read a little bit more about their plans to reduce the heat and bring comfort and security to the teams and fans.

Walking around town in that kind of heat is not only beyond uncomfortable, it's potentially dangerous. And the US, while it does have a poor soccer following, it has a fine legacy. It has a national team that always competes. It now has an established league in the MLS. And every young kid plays soccer. Soccer is popular in the US, it's just overshadowed by Baseball, Basketball, and Football.

No idea how they will do it but they'll definitely do it. Have you ever heard of the Ski Dome in Dubai? It is a complex of ski on snow in the middle of the damn desert. Those guys are unbelievable, mate. They have the money to afford the technology necessary to do ANYTHING. The temperature conditions in Dubai are pretty much the same as in Qatar, if not worse, and even so Dubai is today the most requested place for tourists in the world. I agree with you about the US national football team. They have done well in the last few world cups and almost won the last Confederations Cup. But back in 1994 things were a lot different.

Read a little bit more about their plans to reduce the heat and bring comfort and security to the teams and fans. Qatar was rated as a concern in most repects in fifa's very own report. And they still went for it, strike you as odd? Its more that England provided the best technical and comercial bid and we get two votes? What the point in bidding for something that has already been brought? I think we should not bid again and put the money we'd save into grassroots football so that we can produce a team capable of winning a world cup. That should be our priority. With Blatter as the head of fifa, and Platini as the head of uefa we don't have a chance of getting anything.
