I stumbled across the news that The Coral have released an acoustic version of their Butterfly House LP (D/L available now, CD due on 6th December).
They don't seem to get much press coverage so this may have been missed by some of you who may be interested.
Also has anyone got any live Coral recordings from any of this year's tour dates?
Cheers.

yeah it is the corals own fault. a handful of live dates with setlists packed full of new songs. they have lost alot of fans. this acoustic album should have come out years ago. the last lp was good but nothing special. if they had not released it then it wouldnt matter. at the peak the band where playing date after date and promoting the recent single on every programme going. aswell as that they filled the singles with b-sides you wanted to own unlike now. great band...then

Butterfly House is one of my best albums this year. Brilliant album. I've seen them in October and have a live recording of this gig (full set including The Beatles and The Byrds cover), Casino Boogie. Will upload it later.

I love Butterfly House too - its a real grower and is still getting better which each listen. Looking forward to the acoustic version next week. Thanks for uploading the live recording. I randomly caught a few songs on TV from T in the Park earlier in the year but didn't have chance to record it unfortunately.

The download isnt available now as far as I can tell. Nothing on iTunes or even advertised on their own site. CD/Vinyl is out next week.

Does anybody else think this is a strange move in general? I like the latest Coral, but it's not like it's a rockin' affair. It's basically acoustic anyway.

^ I think most of the songs from "Butterfly House" will be brilliant in the acoustic version as well.

^ Yeah, they probably will. Keep in mind I really like the album. But that's not really what I'm saying. It's a very gentle listen in its original format. Why do acoustic versions of very acoustic-based songs, is what I'm asking.

Why do acoustic versions of very acoustic-based songs, is what I'm asking. They've been touring the album strictly acoustic for a while and the fans asked for it because of how good the shows have been. This album has been on the web (pirate) for a few days now. It's just James, an acoustic guitar (or two) and the other guys singing harmony. It's gorgeous.

The guy who supported The Coral when I saw them in October must be a brother (at least someone from his family) of James cos he had a same sir name. He's done a very short acoustic set on his own, but it was quite good.
