I had a single run through listen of the forthcoming album demos, and barring a couple of tracks (Millionaire is a standout), it does look like they may struggle when faced with the unavoidable comparisons to the standards set by Oasis. Beady Eye will undoubtedly do well initially and the live dates (which are to be on the smaller side - Apollo, Rock City) will be a success due to the established fanbase but on the basis of what I heard, I do fear a critical backlash and a much narrower public appeal. Crystal Ball i think How do you know all this?

It's a decent track - I played it full blast last night and it sounds really good turned up full volume. Liam was going to get slagged off whatever he did...if he did more "Oasis" type stuff or if he went in a different direction...the thing is - we don't know what the rest of the album is like. I think it'll be a good album...and like danscouse said "a few good nights out watching the gigs.". Bring on the summer I say! you're probably right about him not being able "win" no matter what he did, but if he stuck to a sound that at least resembled that of Oasis, WE, THE FANS would at least be content and satisfied. whatever... this IS the first single, it's going for sale on Amazon already and a video is coming out in support of it too. shame...

Beady Eye are making no attempt to tailor there sound to please you, or me, or anyone other than themselves. Why would they?

Before I heard this song I was going to buy the album the week it came out without listening to it.(Like I've done with every single Oasis album since SOTSOG) After listening to BTL, I will DEFINITELY listen to the entire thing to decide if it's even worth spending money on... this.

How do you know all this? This person may actually be in the know. I was looking at his past posts for something that may prove it and came across this: "Won't be starting on new material til April at earliest. New bass player is working with another established high profile band playing live session up until that point." Now that was posted January 24, and we didn't find out about Jeff until late march. Make of that what you will.

As an artist, I think he's at a point where he's comfortable of making music for himself and not for mass consumption, and not for pleasing the fans and maybe he should do that too, maybe he just doesn't give a hoot anymore

Remember what Liam wanted Songbird to sound like.... the demo was appalling. Now he gets his way and... BTL is the result.
I am looking forward to Show Me Your Love though. Thats a nice song from what i've heard (what we've all heard).

Maybe people are hoping because it was written and considered for an Oasis album it'll be something that they, a fan who likes Oasis, will like. Everything else is an unknown...but that song is much more a sure bet.

The 1st single is a complete embarrassment. The name is ridiculous. The cover for the single is cringe-inducing. This whole project should be aborted as soon as possible. Just pull the plug and limit the damage done to your reputation, Liam. Stupid stupid post. People creaming themselves saying the album will be the best thing ever because they like BTL are stupid (they havent heard the album), people slating the whole album just because they dont like BTL are stupid. Christ its just one fricking song ! Once i hear the album if i dont like it i might join the Leonard Cohen Doom and Gloom Club, but until then i'll just wait and sit on the fence As for the name, grow up ! So the Artic Monkeys is a great name ? The Beatles got slated for their name years back, even Oasis. Again Liam could call the band Clunge and it wouldnt matter, just depends on the songs. I wasnt that keen on the initial one but i'm still waiting for the album and wont write everything off instantly. Its like being a football fan and stupidly moaning about the crappy 12 million pound striker you've just bought as hes had his debut and was poor. Give him 12 or so games first and then judge him. IF the albums crap then i'll join you in all your points, but to come out with that after hearing one free download, ridiculous. Think someone wants some attention do they ?

Don't ask me why, but the video actually INCREASED my tolerability of the song...it's really not that bad. Lyrics are still toilet-worthy though.

I still think that the song didn't have much to offer much for itself after 2:40...that was the moment when I was watching the video when I was like..."this isn't that bad" and looked @ the bar thinking it's almost done...and I was like "seriously...there is another minute of this?" then came the interminable expanse of come ons...
Why does a basic rocker like this have to be almost 4 minutes long? The song finishes @ 3 minutes for me...then takes another 40 seconds to die...
I think what we have all learned from this is that BDI are going to sound much different...and they still haven't fixed that editing problem that Oasis had.

^Well said.
Songbird demo was Noel's creation, but Liam vetoed the rockier version for the quieter version. So all that logic earlier in this thread was bullocks! Aside from the fact that the demo was brilliant.
This project will be better then most people believe it will be. Mark it down, it won't be Definitely Maybe or Morning Glory, but it will shit all over most albums released over the next year.

I was thinking the same thing should have ended at 3min. No need for Liam to keep shouting baby come on

^I suggested the same thing like 2 days ago. So did a lot of us Kit. Is it really true that Noel wanted Songbird to be electric. I have heard Noel say exactly the opposite. Was he spinning tales again? It not like Noel shies away from acoustic tunes.
