'How can you judge them on one tune?' says former label boss Alan McGee has hit out at fans for posting negative reviews of Beady Eye's first song 'Bring The Light' online. Reviews of Liam Gallagher's band's track have been posted on NME.COM since its release yesterday (November 10), with some saying they were disappointed with the debut. McGee, who signed Oasis to his Creation label in 1993, said people should not judge the band on just one song and declared that there was little doubt that Beady Eye would prove to be a great band. "I was on the internet this morning, everybody's judging the band on one tune," he told NME. "How can you do that? Let's hear the album." He added: "It's a fucking free download. It's too early to fucking say. Think of the talent in that band: Gem [Archer], [Chris] Sharrock, Liam Gallagher, the best frontman there's ever fucking been! And Andy Bell, one of the best guitarists up there with [Jimmy] Page. How can that be a bad band?" Beady Eye's debut album is expected to be released next year. 'Bring The Light' is available as a free download now. Source: www.nme.com/news/beady-eye/53800Have to agree with him here. The only thing I feel, is that McGee insinuates that this is a crap tune, but we don't have to worry because the album will be better. Expected him to say it's a top tune, but clearly he didn't for some reason... Btw, I think it's a great tune, as a teaser, it makes me want to hear more from them. But of course it isn't a fantastic "debut single" (if it is one).

Personally I am judging the one tune. I think it fair to judge one tune after one tune.
And if someone didn't like it...they have every right to worry that the direction they are going in won't be to their liking. That is not to say that it will be bad. But it is possible that this new growth could have BDI growing away from some fans and towards others...but that doesn't make the old fans feel any better about being left behind.

McGee is an idiot.
And I'm not pinning any hopes on Andy Bell. The guitars on that track are utterly shit.

he didn't say this track is awesome or even good because he doesn't think it is, and i feel the same way. that doesn't mean that i think the band or the upcoming album will be a POS but it does worry me.

Think Alan McGee should be tried for crimes against fashion with that hat on his head.
I'm not saying the album will be a flop, but so far this one song i'm not so keen on.
Problem with McGee is hes sooo biased, if Liam released an album full of nursery rhyme covers McGee would say its the best thing hes heard in 10 years

he's absolutely right that we should be judging them on the album. however, this is all we've got to judge them on right now.

Alan McGee is simply acting like typical Alan McGee. Some logic in there but he is still a bit nuts.

He'd say it was the best thing since revolver...

Fair play to him defending Liam, hopefully more now come forward.
I think Andy Bell could surprise us on the album & live. I defo rate him but Jimmy fuckin Page? Right ok then!?!
I've met McGee a couple of times, he's a ginger £unt and tends to exagerate haha.

Looking at the lineup, there must be better songs they could have chosen for a free download. Bring The Light is terrible compared to the Oasis A/B-Sides Andy, Gem, and Liam have written.

If Andy Bell is one of the best guitarists up there with Page he sure is lazy/a sell out for accepting a job plucking away at a bass in Oasis for 9 years.
