I'm sick and tired of hearing the whole "Free download" thing when someone says that they don't like "Bring the light". Alan McGee used that reason talking to the NME today as well as many fans here and on Facebook. What the fuck's up with that? Because it's free it's good? Because it's free it's not the best song on the record? Because it's free we shall be grateful and non criticize the thing? Because it's free it's a gift from heaven that shall not be judged as it would be if we'd pay for it?
What the fuck?
If I go on the web and print out a painting that I hate, I have to start liking it because I got it for free?
Art is art it's a fucking subjective thing no matter the price tag!
Radiohead's In Raibow was shit. It was free but was shit. To me anyway. Am I gonna get stoned?

Yeah that's the impression I got. Like I said "Because it's free it's not the best song on the record?" which is ridiculous!
Free download doesn't excuse everything and certainly doesn't force anyone to like the song either!

Anyone who likes a song because its free is an idiot.

You can guess the reason why it was free! It's a new band folks!!!!!
Yeh it's got 90% of Oasis in it, but they are jut putting it out and seeing the reaction.
Alot of people are starting to like it. I can see where Mcgee is coming from and it wasn't quite as strong as you're making out in the original post.
We have our right to an opinion, but I think he was getting at the fact that some fans were jumping to a conclusion way too soon.
Some songs you have to listen to a number of times to see the positives, then be open minded regarding the album.
Some idiots are now saying the album will be shite just because they've heard this one song??? Bollocks, be patient and let's see what it brings!

I think it is true that it shouldn't be held to a lower standard because it was free.
In my mind this was about more than money. This was a first impression, you can't replace that. There was a lot more riding on this than just a few dollars coming in. This was their time to prove things...so I don't think this was the time to play their cards too close to their chest.

If that's what McGee meant then I agree, we can't judge the whole BE record from Bring The Light.
Only 7 days ago, everyone was pissing in their pants because of what we heard the video for the launching of the BE website. Everyone was like "This is going to be awesome".
Let's all calm down and wait.
But, my point about people calling others "ingrates" because they don't like Bring The Light remains. The price tag means nothing!

In Rainbows is better than anything Oasis put out this decade. My opinion. Wouldn't disagree, but I can think of hundreds of better records than what Radiohead have released the last decade.

in comparison, in rainbows was much better than dig out your soul. and i think, the next record from radiohead will be far better than beady eyes record. that just the way it is. because thom yorke is a genuis, and liam is a knobhead

Yeah, just cos it's free doesn't mean it cant be shit. I've gotten a lot of good tunes that were given away for free as samplers, Bring The Light isn't one of them. In Rainbows is better than anything Oasis put out this decade. My opinion. Typical response here: Radiohead sux cos of teh bleeps and meloncholy and thom yerk's eye

In Rainbows is better than anything Oasis put out this decade. My opinion. My opinion also! Reckoner sent shivers down my spine first time listening, not many oasis songs do that for me. Mind you both the i'm outta time chorus and the final chorus after the bridge of falling down did upon first listen of DOYS.

It's about time to those Radiohead freaks to show their faces on this forum.
