On NME they're reporting that it IS the World of Twist cover. I had read that it was an original. Guess not.

World of Twist version is shit, but I could well imagine Beady Eye doing a solid version of it and I'd be surprised if it isn't played live.

Sorry to say so but this band is ridicolous. Obviously Noel was the boss. The others believed that they could make it on their own but as always the boss is much more important than the employees believe.

Horrific tune. I'm losing hope for BDI at a rapid pace with this rubbish, hope I'm wrong.

I like this version, and I can see how Beady Eye would crank up the volume a bit and make it their own

I'm kind of annoyed there doing a cover, They must have so many songs between them for a decent b-side. To me this is about as exciting as a DOYS remix!

It's a limited edition vinyl which only 4,000 people will ever own (including a smug me). Why would they bother pissing away their own tunes to such a small audience - most of whom probably don't even have the equipment to play the tune anyway!

Yeah this isn't really a proper single so there's no reason for them to put a proper b-side on it either. I'm just happy we're getting another taste of Beady Eye before the next single, which they wouldn't really have to do. They could have still easily sold through 4,000 of those vinyls without putting that b-side on there.

Sons Of The Stage is one of the greatest songs of the Madchester/Baggy/Britpop era... and World Of Twist were heavily respected by people in the know at the time.... they wrote world class songs and had the charisma, sound and cool of the bigger groups like The Mondays and The Roses. They only had one record but it is a true classic, especially for the time, and Sons Of The Stage is one of the best songs of the 90's. Some folks on these forums won't get the original because it doesn't have any of that modern sheen, so the Beady Eye version will be amazing for them, trust me. Bring The Light is weak but this B-Side should be great, even if it is just a cover.
