"Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today..." ^ Simple song but effective and it worked because of the song and what it was about. Now I'm not putting BTL anywhere near Imagine, but I think it's perfectly clear that you write lyrics to suit the song. Whether it be simple lyrics to get to the point (Imagine & BTL for example), or it's a song which needs expanding (DLBIA for example) Seriously? I don't agree. The words may be simple...bu it packs a punch because it invokes thought. They are thoughtful lyrics. They may not have long words...but every line is obviously thought out and relates to an over-all theme. A quite profound theme @ that. There are not lines in there that are only there because they rhyme... The lyrics suck. End of. You may say the song doesn't need good lyrics...but the lyrics are not good. God you're one miserable f*cker That's the point I was making. The imagine lyrics SUIT that song because of the theme and topic of that song. Personally I think the lyrics on BTL suit the song. It's the type of song you just want to turn up, not listen to.

Of course they fit...but how does any assertion about BTL follow from that point? So basically Imagine has nothing to do BTL. Give me a song that is decent, but not amazing, musically and absoluely crap lyrically that people will agree is a brilliant like Imagine...and I will take your point.

It's only because some don't like BTL It's just a general rock song - nothing specially which most will agree with. but at the end of the day - what the hell do you want from that type of song? - It's not a song for singing along - It's not a song to make you think about the world - and it's not a song that will take over the charts in terms of popularity.

It's an alright song for an album filler, but a debut single? To me it's a sign that the album wouldn't be what we were expecting from the lads.

Who said it's the debut single? from the small reports we've had from Kasabian and Lillywhite - the album is sounding more and more diverse - so god know what we'll end up with.

I repeat....give me a song that has crap lyrics and isn't amazing musically that people rate highly and I will accept your explanation that I shouldn't feel disappointed in the lyrics. But don't try to defend the lyrics by spouting off Imagine lyrics..it only makes it worse. What point are you trying to make with that? The lyrics suck and no amount of "they fit the song" will change that. I think the song deserves better than those lyrics. The music is average, lyrics are undoubtably bad. If the lyrics were average (and therefore did match the song) then they would fit the tune. But they actually stick out as subpar for me...and not even compared to lyrics of other tunes...but just in comparison to the rest of the song...
