i give it a reluctant 'thumbs up' but i was expecting better... simply because liam and the boys are the best and i expect only the best from them. fair play to you liam for 'sounding different', if nothing else you have certainly accomplished that here... i will keep an open mind...

i like it. just managed to order the 7"
considering people were expecting AGN, MOS type numbers, and we a pretty cool tune, i think everyone should be happy.
also it didn't cost a penny!!!

Anyone remembers the Bootleg Beatles? They played together on some huge gigs together with Oasis .... They are playing in my city here in Holland tonight, in a club 3 minutes from my house ... I went for a walk just a minute ago, and meet the guy who plays the John Lennon role... He told me he heard Bring The Light as well, and he totally loves it, and said it has a Lennon post-Beatles touch in a 50ies way .. lol .. so it's not only us thinking this ... They will play a cover of the song tonight, as a extra ... I'll try to record it for a bootleg... i mean ... might not me legal, but they are called the BOOTLEG Beatles right ? lol sssssst

I think most people who are really into music of that era would. Would be great if you could get a recording of it man!

There's way too many similar threads on this track, can't keep track (no pun intended) of them all.
But this song has my support, so I'll post in this thread, too. It's refreshing and fun.

I'm loving it. What is there not to like. It's Oasis without Noel and, no, it's not the most solid effort but it's different and it rocks. After a few more listens I think I'll be awful impressed. I'm excited to hear what the b-side is gonna sound like as well.

I like it. it reminds me of the way how Roll with it was written - easy listening rocknroll track that has just one purpose - have some fun. And I believe Bring the life achieves this point in more elegant way than Lyla does (which Noel tried to do in the manner of Roll with it)...

I'm not absolutelt thrilled, but it's not bad...so if I have to pick a camp this is it. Tepid approval bascially. I expected something a bit different and I got it. I am glad they aren't doing Oasis-by-numbers music...since I don't think they could could do it that well without Noel.
I like it. But I worry if this is the 4th best song on the album (after the singles)
But this could have just been the farthest thing they had done from Oasis and that is why they chose it. Not that I want then to sound like Oasis...but I really like guitars...
Jury is still out on the project in my mind.
PS...I think the lyrics are shit. It's one of my biggest reservations about the tune.

They knew at the very least this would get some people talking, and it has definitely done that.

One thing I wonder about is...where is the melody?
That is the thing I loved most about Oasis. And I am not feeling that. The fact that we are all concentrating on the piano and guitar solo and noone really has anything to say about the vocal is a bit concerning. Liam's voice doesn't sound that much better than in previous years.
Seriously, try to hum along with the song...

Really digging the tune too. Hey people, it's not Oasis. It's a new project. Love the way Liam's voice is mixed. Very clear. And he's singing with balls. Great vocal. Love the piano and the backing vocal.
Thumbs up, Beady Eye!

Love the piano and the backing vocal. Thumbs up, Beady Eye! agreed, its not Oasis.. once people let that go...they will be able to judge it on its own merits. As for the lyrics... its a rock n roll tune.. I mean does Headshrinker have mind blowing lyrics? How bout The Shock? I mean this is the man who wrote Little James ten years ago, now if you want to talk shit lyrics If you think about it, Noel started writing songs at about 13, when he wrote Rock n Roll Star..what was he like 24?? I mean I have read the his early lyrics...nothing fantastic IMO. That a good 12 years before he started writing the great stuff... Personally I think Liam is on the verge ***IF he did write it, which I suspect he did

Maybe the chorus lacks a bit of that sing-a-long quality but it is great nonetheless. In fact, that part of the song is very well put together even if it is very simple. The low point of this song are the verses and that whole part after the 2m mark, but they are decent. So, if this is not to be a single I guess we will have a very decent (good) album to say the least.

I think this video enhances the quality of the song:
It's a prank video but actually sounds more oasis-ish paced.

Felt inspired to join the boards as i have been coming here reading them for ages!! Love Bring The Light & it's direction away from Oasis & It's early 50's vibe, Liam's voice sounds good. Then again i have been listening to John Lennon's Rock and Roll Album non stop of recent so, maybe BDI just hit me at the right place right time!! Kinda reminds me of this

BTL would be a very distinctive and refreshing song in the album, cos it's obvious that it won't be filled with Jerry Lewis songs. I highly doubt BDI will be changing their directions, at least not this way.
