I would like to point out that i didn't say it was going to be one of the weakest. IMO it will be the 3rd or 4th best song on the album. Take Vlad The Impaler and Violet Hill as two examples of free downloads before anything else has been released.....followed by Fire and Viva La Vida respectively. Both are strong songs but not as big as what was to come I think Violet Hill is awesome but I fucking despise Viva la Vida. fucking shitty song. But yeah, imo the first single is not about the best song but the more energetic one, or the one that better defines the album... And I see the free download as something completely logical.. I mean we all know that as soon the song goes to the radio station people will be downloading it, so what's the freaking difference?

I can't wait. Too bad though In America I have to stay up till 4am to hear it for the first time. But still, I hope its worth the wait. And I think that this is a really good move by Liam. There are going to be a lot more people hearing his music now, than if they would have to of bought it.

I have got it on VERY good authority (by a source who would not stand to benefit) that we will be hearing the new single ("Bring The Light") tomorrow (November 10th). Expect a leak then - but I can't say anything more until then.

What wonderful news to wake up!
I agree that they'll be releasing what they think is a good song. Won't be the best song because I think they'll leave that for a good chart position. It's not as revelationary as everyone is making it out to be. They are hardly the first band that has made their music listenable online before the actual release.
I don't know what they are going for with the strictly vinyl release though. That seems to a really weird way to sell your first release. In my world it's more of a collectibles type thing...not the kind of thing that I will actually seek out primarily. Weird that they aren't selling CDs. I just wonder what they point is.

Surely it will get radio play tonight (here in the UK) ahead of the free download tomorrow???

I'm sure eventually it will be put onto CD. Vinyl is good though with everything digital nowadays anyway.

I realise this is pretty clever marketing, which I can totally appreciate. But I also reckon its a bit of a 2 fingers up to Noel who was always so stuborn about the idea of giving away free music. First song we'll hear of Beady Eye will be a free download!
Also, I hope they've got some promotions coming up - tv shows, radio, etc. I've not heard anything, but then again they managed to keep the 1st single quiet until 24 hours before release, so we never know...

3 am for me...but I'll be up eagerly awaiting.
I'm gonna be interested to hear the number of downloads they get.
I'm glad their doing it this way.
Interesting that they will be premiering it online instead of on radio. Good to know that at least someone in the marketing department is moving with the times.

If the single is of a high quality and they get a large number of downloads and interest then it could bode really well for a single that may well chart high early next year before the album.
Great marketing by the band and the management. Hope the tune is sounding good.
As for the tunes, my guess is that Gem wrote Bring The Light and Liam wrote Sons of Stage. Only a hunch though.

Some people here seem to be forgetting that the CD Single and Digital Download Single will be available to buy on 22 November with the B-Side (and possibly a demo version of Bring the Light or another B-Side).
While I am so appreciative to have another Oasis song after having only the hundred and odd for the last year or so it is quite worrying to think this may effect the sales of the single. I guess the loss in sales will be counteracted by the promotion they gain for the new album and future singles.
I'm in Uni at 11 but I don't need to leave for the train till quarter past 10 so it is just enough time to download and put on my PSP.
