so in the meantime(as we await any sort of "actual big news")... do you guys believe BeadyEye (or their new record)will be more successful than Oasis was with Dig Out Your SOul? I know Oasis was an established act and all that but if the lead single is truly up-beat(as it has been reported) and catchy, it could, well, catch on. lol it will depend on wether or not the band(or their label) is willing to spend some dough. what do i mean by that? Everyone and i mean EVERYONE knows that to get significant airtime on Vh1 and to get on that ridiculous top20 countdown that millions of people watch every Saturday&Sunday morning, you have to pay up, otherwise they'll ignore the shit out of you. Then there's the good ol' late night talk show appearances . Kimmel, COnan(which premieres next week), Jimmy Fallon and of course Big Jaw(Leno) and Letterman. FYI , i heard Kimmel will have Paul Weller as a musical guest on Thursday(yup THIS thursday). There is no reason why Liam and company shouldn't get on those shows just as easily. then there's radio airplay, well, that depends a lot on the other 2 things.
What do y'all think? (sorry about the long post)

It all depends on the record company and the promotional camp. The music just won't be enough, no matter how good it is.

Dig out your soul peaked at #5 which is not bad at all but it had no life after the first week of release.
I highly doubt BDI will do better. I can't see the new album even breaking into the top100 let alone top 5. I don't think BDI will be promoted at all and only the real hardcore fans who follow oasis will know about BDI.

We gotta know from this moment that getting a number one in the USA is almost impossible at the time, however there are 4 things that are going to help to sell more copies or the opposite. Those are:
1) The actual quality of the album 2) How does BDI promotes the album 3)How does music critiques review the album 4)If liam keeps his mouth closed and dosnt says that's the bollocks

I think Liam will definitely be keen on doing some serious promo work. i'm not saying we'll see him all over the place but come on! if freakin' Paul Weller is able to get on Jimmy Kimmel, then why not BDI? Also top 5 seems like a huge success but let's not forget that DOYS only sold around 50k copies that initial week, and the #2 album that week only sold around 65k(Rise Against). Point being, it was a very slow week in terms of album sales. Not being able to crack the top 100 ? i just think you're being to pessimistic . It's not like Oasis did a whole lot of advertising for their last album. I don't think i even saw a comercial.

Come on now, how often does a "debut album" go #1 anyways? not sure about the UK, but here in America, it just doesn't happen. when i said success i didn't necessarily mean the album, it could also be the single itself. There are tons of artists whose songs sell literally millions, yet their albums struggle to sell 100 thousand copies, that's not an exaggeration at all.

Doubt it.
One of Oasis' biggest downfalls was that they refused to kiss ass and spend the time and effort. They will try to break Europe first...the fact is to break America I think you really have to make it ur priority...not an afterthought.
Plus the fact is that America doesn't really have a great deal in the charts the resembles anything that BE is probably going to be. Odds are stacked against them.

fair enough... then tell me this, would you then expect them to at least have at least more exposure than Oasis did(with Dig Out Your SOul)?

No. I don't think Liam will appeal enough to the teens and tweens that seem to fuel pop culture over here. To make major waves in the rock community they would need to put out a legendary rock album.actact can get away with a good album to create hype...I think artists that are established are expected to have good albums so' they néed to make an album that is that much better to create hype on a musical basis. Or they would have to do some incredibly creative marketing...like what Radiohead did with In Rainbows. Frankly I think BE will have a good album released In a traditional way. And their music will not fit in on my local top 40 type radio station. They will be firmly second tier in popularity and coverage I think

The shock of the lightning had over 150k spins on radio stations all over the US leading up and through the release of DOYS. The album was advertised a few times on TV, The vault and mtv gave the single a few spins. KROQ in LA advertised the release of DOYS quite a bit during the release weak. It had pretty decent promo nothing major but still.

i don't think the DOYS promo was "pretty decent" if anything was quite pedestrian AT BEST. TSOTL did have its fair share of spins, i will admit that. I just think that if a band as boring and OLD as "Train" can have some major success based off 1 song(Soul Sister), as stupid as that song was, it was sort of catchy and it's not like the "teens/tweens" were the ones that made that song popular, same can be said for a band like OAR that came out of nowhere... it was all because of their appeal to college kids(not exactly teenagers). Still i get where you're coming from and chances are you're right. I just think this lead single could have a chance (with the right promo behind it)

Do we reckon Beady Eye will get a number one single over here in the UK?

You forgot that they couldn't go to some TV shows due to Noel's health.

Oasis had a massive chance back in the 90's to really capitalize on their success with MG. but they didn't If BDI do massive promo then ok we mite see the album hit gold status 500,000. But they need really big promo such as SNL, late show, etc etc.. and they need to get lots of airplay, tv play. It depends if their record label will put money into that area. honestly if promo is zero i can't see it going higher than #100,

I know it's not easy, but I would love them to be accepted as a band, not "Liam Gallagher and Co." anywhere in the world. Just blank, start from zero.

No because to be successful in the US you have to play the game. Liam won't stand for that.
Plus, I don't see the big deal in being successful in the US. It's just a fucking country not a merit gauge!

know this for sure guys, Beady Eye WILL be successful "globally" the way Oasis was, but here in the states, that success could improve. Oasis was able to sell out stadiums around the world(not everywhere tho) but in the U.S. it was a "modest" band in terms of popularity. Sure, it was able to tour arenas stateside, which only a select few rock bands can afford to do, but im talking about record/single sales, not the gigs.

DOYS debuted at #5 solely on the basis of its New York street musician campaign. The New York city market alone got Oasis in the Top 5. Gone are the days of million album selling weeks, now you only need a modest 100,000 on a down week for album releases. DOYS only sold somewhere in the ballpark of 50,000 back in 2007.
In fairness, I am not sure BE will be able to get a couple of large markets on their side prior to touring in the States, so I don't see it happening. I'll buy it, but I bet that makes me one of maybe 100 people in Texas who will even know it is coming out.

you're right you're right...(btw u live in Dallas too, cool). the thing is the album wont sell itself, Liam and company NEED to do some promo work here, otherwise there's no chance in hell the thing will sell more than 20k copies(if that).

I really can't see them being big stateside and I don't think they'll make much effort there.

I know it's not easy, but I would love them to be accepted as a band, not "Liam Gallagher and Co." anywhere in the world. Just blank, start from zero. The positive thing to come from Oasis not being massive is that they are LESS likely to be tagged with his line stateside...at least on the street if not in the magazines. I thing people recognize the Oasis name but not everyone over year could name a Gallagher unlike. England
