Just read this on wikipedia - new Gorillaz single will be released on November 22 as well as BDIs Bring the Light. So we have Liam vs. Albarn again ;D Is this just a coincidence or did Liam want to do this? I really hope BDI will win this...never liked the Gorillaz much. What do you guys think?

They're still releasing songs from Plastic Beach? The Fourth single came out in like September. I'm not believing it, until I see it. For The Gorillaz to release a 5th single, seems weird.

It's not on Plastic Beach

My bad the 5th single isnt from Plastic Beach. But to be technical the single's release date is the 21st, not the 22nd. The 22nd is the physical release, but the 21st is the digital release.

No way... I seriously hope it doesn't happen again, it was the most stupid idiocy ever. And I always blamed Albarn, so I'd lose credit if now Liam did the same shit... But if it did happen, which I highly doubt, Beady Eye would obviously win I think, people will be more curious to hear them.

So we have the remnants of oasis against the remnants of blur.
What a shitty decade.

Plastic Beach has to be the most overrated album of the year. I simply do not get that album.

Yeah I think in this situation BDI will win, but if this were the first single from Plastic Beach and not some random stand alone then I think The Gorillaz would win. They're just a more established band than Liam's band and plus the songs on Plastic Beach are really really good. To tell you the truth I think that Plastic Beach was The Gorillaz BHN. Got a lot of fan fare early, but people found it be too long & a bit too overloaded. But its still a really good album. But yeah, If BDI makes songs at the level of those then I'd be getting real excited about BDI.

If not then there's no way you're going to like Plastic Beach. Like I said, its their BHN. A little bit over done, but they're some songs on there that are just out and out pop genius.

Well, new Gorillaz single could get lot of airplay because it's the most mainstream sounding song they've done since Feel Good Inc, but, at least in the UK, there are more Oasis fans than Gorillaz, so I expect Beady Eye's single is gonna reach higher in the charts. And let's face it, lots of us Oasis fans are gonna buy this single, especially since we know it's gonna have real b-sides

^^Hahahaha, I root for both, BDI just a little bit more. I'm a pretty big Blur/Gorillaz fan (or pretty much Albarn), but I support my main band or the what's left it at least.

But if it did happen, which I highly doubt, Beady Eye would obviously win I think, people will be more curious to hear them. I think that's a bit unfair to Liam. Damon and Blur moved up their originally decided single date specifically to cause the confrontation. They set it up to be a battle. On the other hand I have a hard time believing that Liam made a point of looking to see when the next Gorillaz single was going to be so that he could release it on the same day. So I don't think that this should affect your opinion of Liam @ all. He has to release the same week as someone...just happened to be an ex-Blur member

^^I get what you're saying, but I find it hard to believe though that Wooten is in their group & at some point Wooten didnt say "Hey, you know we're releasing our single the same day as my other group [the Gorillaz]."
Though I do agree with you that it was an accident and that Liam probably isnt trying to set up a confrontation again and plus I don't think Liam really gives a shit about Damon, but you also can't tell me that Liam didnt know a Gorrillaz single was coming out the same day.

That's true. But I don't see Liam doing it maliciously. Maybe they don't have alot of choice though. Maybe this is the soonest they could get it out there, in a practical sense. They are already risking it by going this close to Christmas, they have some stiff competition...every week they delayed would lower their chances of charting exponentially. Maybe it was this or waiting until the holiday season was over. Christmas is never a good time to launch a career...the established acts are always coming out in force. And although Liam is a name...BDI is not...

^^Like I said you're completely right. No way Liam meant to do it. Like I said, I don't think Liam really gives a shit about Damon. But yeah, those things like single dates are set up pretty early. Its all in slotting and if you delay then you have to hurry up and get another slot, which is usually a few weeks down the line.
It wouldnt surprised me if they selected the same slot within a week of each other. But yeah I think at some point Wooten did inform of the fact that they had the same date as The Goriillaz

Melancholy Hill by Gorillaz is an amazing song - I'd be surprised if Beady Eye came up with a song that surpasses it.

But it still doesn't make it the same as what Blur and Damon did in the 90's. The was intentional to stir up a fight. This is just 2 bands happening to pick the same week. Just a fluke that it happened to be Gorillaz. I just think that Rita shouldn't be too disappointed in Liam about this.

The Gorillaz are fantastic, Plastic Beach is one of the best albums this year, and I'm glad they upped their live game recently. If they're tickets weren't so expensive I definitely would of gone. We'll see if Beady Eye can match Plastic Beach, though I'll be honest in saying I really doubt they could.
