They're not a new band, they've already released a couple of albums, but I just got into them recently with their latest album. The single from this album "The Great Escape" is a brilliant tune. I just can't get enough of listening to this song.
They're going to support Weller on his upcoming Northern UK/Ireland dates.
Anyone on here llikes them too?
PS: I'm not waiting for a post like "ah, another indie band". Thanks.

Yes i agree. A good band. I've seen them this year. But i can't remember where? Was it in Amsterdam? Or maybe they supported Ocean Colour Scene? Can't remember.
I'm watching Paul Weller in Manchester later this year. It would be great if The Rifles are supporting.

Theyre alright, found their album (The Great Escape) cheap on iTunes a while back. Science in Violence, the Great Escape and Fall to Sorrow are all great songs but the rest of the album aint great. I knew they had another album before that but have never found it anywhere. I might be seeing Weller in December and wouldn't mind seeing them

Yes, The Rifles are supporting Weller in Manchester, Newcastle and Dublin. I envy you cos you'll also see The Moons supporting OCS next month.

I saw the Moons supporting OCS in February, great band have just been listening to the Great Escape thanks to this thread, is pretty good actually. As well as the songs I mentioned earlier, Lazy Bones (Konk version) is really good, think its an iTunes bonus track though

^ barnafin95, you must know who is Andy Crofts then. A very talented young man. I think The Moons sounds quite similar to the OCS. A very good band. I'd love to recommend you an another great band, who's supported Weller earlier this year (5 nights at Royal Albert Hall in May) - Erland and The Carnival. I've seen them in Paradiso in April and bought their debut album. Fantastic band and not many people know that the guitarist of the band is Simon Tong.

^ I haven't heard "No Love Lost" yet, so I can't tell you. I'm sorry. All I can tell you is that the title track of "Great Escape" really got me. Great tune. Also one of their early songs "Repeated Offender" is a nice tune.

Yeah, he's in Wellers live band and looks kinda like Gem ;D Will have to check em out, really like the two albums I've heard where Simon Tong is a member of the band (Urban Hymns by the Verve and True Skies by the Shining). Cheers for the recommendation. Also, I've never seen a copy of 'No Love Lost' new or for less than 20 quid preowned and its not on iTunes or Amazon mp3. Anyone know where to find it? Cheers

Thanks for the good advice, craig. I'm going to get "No Love Lost" (I thought they've covered Joy Division song when I first read this title, lol). barnafin95, don't they have that album at HMV or Recordstore.uk? and, yes, I thought Gem joined Weller when I saw Andy Crofts at Jools Holland for the first time. ;D

barnafin95, I've looked at Rough Trade website. They do have "Great Escape", but not "No Love Lost". If there's any rough trade store in your area, you can still have a look of it. I love Rough Trade. I always go to their store when I'm in London.
