Excuse me if he's already been discussed on here but i've recently discovered Burial. www.nme.com/news/burial/38569 First I heard this track then looked him up and now discovering some of his tracks and downloading his Untrue album. Really amazing, lots of emotion. I know not exactly what you'd expect from an Oasis fan, hehe but i've really been in the mood for stuff like Chemical brothers, prodigy, mogwai and Explosions in the sky; so a massive variety of electronic music, lol. Again i'm sorry if he is well known and i'm late on discovering him but I just want more people to enjoy this.

If you like electronic music, listen to DJ Shadow's Endtroducing, it's possibly the best you'll hear. Also, if you want something new, listen to Fuck Buttons last year's album, amazing stuff. That song with Four Tet is awesome, Burial is great!

I've got Endtroducing actually might have to dig that out, just listening to Fuck Buttons - Tarot Sport: so far so good thanks! Anyone into portishead, massive attack or aphex twin etc. could you recommend some albums?

By artists other than the ones you listed or do you mean which are the best albums by those particular artists?

Bit of both really I don't mind, i'm just enjoying some of these electric sounds but not techno or anything lol. O/t I saw an interview where Noel recommended 2 rock bands: B'lack Mountain' and 'Mando Diao' but he also said Portishead are very harrowing o.0

If you like DJ Shadow then you should obviously go for The Avalanches' Since I Left You, as well as J Dilla's Donuts, DJ Rupture's Uproot, DJ Krush's Turntableized.
Portishead's most recent album is kind of kraut-rock/post-punk influenced and is very good. In fact all three of their albums are really good. Massive Attack's first three albums are essential and No Protection, a Mad Professor dub remix or their second album is also definitely worth downloading. Then you've got Tricky, Sneaker Pimps, Four Tet, Air, Zero 7 etc.
Aphex Twin's discography is pretty daunting (as well as his "main" albums he's released stuff under aliases like AFX, Polygon Window and The Tuss). Selected Ambient Works 85-92 or Richard D. James album are probably the easiest places to start. Autechre's discography is equally daunting and you're probably best of starting with something like Amber which is far less of a headfuck than most of their stuff. With Boards of Canda, I'd start with Music Has The Right To Children and work chronologically (maybe listen to their earlier stuff if you feel it's necessary). You might want to dip your toes into a bit of Venitian Snares and, because you mentioned a couple of post rock bands earlier I'd definitely recommend you check out múm and 65daysofstatic. Homogenic by Björk is another staple you should give a listen if you haven't already. Lifeforms and Dead Cities by The Future Sound of London. Maybe Monolake for the more ambient stuff. µ-Ziq's Tango n' Vectif is another early '90s classic. Leftfield - Leftism.
Recent dubstep/'tronica albums I've been into (I'll probably update this as I remember more)
Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma Shackleton - The 3 EPs King Midas Sound - Waiting For You Dusk + Blackdown - Margins Music Distance - Repercussions Actress - Splazsh Boxcutter - Oneiric Zomby - Where Were U In 92? Pantha du Prince - This Bliss Mount Kimbie - Crooks & Lovers Kode9 & The Space Ape - Memories of the Future Benga - Diary of an Afro Warrior Lorn - Nothing Else Digital Mystikz - Return II Space Clubroot - s/t Starkey - Ephemeral Exhibits Untold - Gonna Work Out Fine EP Terror Danjah - Power Grid Rustie - Bad Science Skream! - Skream! Kryptic Mindz - One of Us
Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg and there are really good artists like Joy Orbison and Rudi Zygaldo who haven't put out full lengths yet.
Oh and you may have said no techno but I really think you should give Underworld's Second Toughest In The Infants and Dubnobasswithmyheadman a chance. And don't forget early Prodigy.
Next week: seymourstein's guide to drone.

PS: I love Mogwai. They're brilliant.

Yeah Mogwai are awesome (with the exception of Rock Action, dunno what went wrong with that one)
Can't believe I left Squarepusher off my list of essentials, that was like the first ever electronica artist I got into. His basically makes IDM with the gimmick of Seinfeld slap bass. Which is nowhere near as terrible as it sounds believe it or not.

Ambient is amazing. Shame more people don't listen. That whole album is great. Moving a little further away from your OP, but iIf you haven't checked out Brian Eno yet, then definitely do! Two of my favourite songs, these Oh, and this is one I've been loving lately! ;D

Hey guys download the new Darkstar album. It's barely even dubstep apart from the year old single Aidy's Girl Is A Computer but this has a lot of cross-over appeal if you're into The xx and haven't really got into the scene yet.

I'm not sure if Errors belong to this style, but I really like their "A Rumour In Africa".
