I love how the American media spins this stuff. Because Beckham and Henry comes to the MLS it means that soccer is catching on in the country? While I'd love that to be true as I hate how commercialized the other American sports are, mainly the NFL, it's just not the case. Both these star players came at the end of their career. If anything, it shows how weak the MLS is - that the successful European players use the league as a retirement home to come to when they can no longer make it at the top leagues.
Also, Beckham's move was the biggest money making sham in 'soccer' history. Whoever believes he cared about promoting the sport in the US is delusional and is over looking his ridiculous salary for an over rated player at his age.
