I think this is their best album to be honest. Funeral is a great album Neon Bible was a bit disappointing in my books but with this one they've out done themselves.

Well I'm already a huge fan of the band so I suppose I'm going to start off slightly biased, but after sitting down with it for over a week now I think it's simply amazing. I'm not quite prepared to put it alongside Funeral cos that's one of my all-time favourites but it might run it close one day.

I think this is their best album to be honest. Funeral is a great album Neon Bible was a bit disappointing in my books but with this one they've out done themselves. I take back this statement. Funeral is still emotional raw and powerful even ten years later, whereas The Suburbs has lost a little bit of its magical narrative. Funeral is still my favorite although The Suburbs is easily my second favorite from them. Neon Bible is still my least favorite by them. I never really warmed up to Reflektor. Its a decent album but its a couple steps below Funeral and The Suburbs in my opinion, but its an album that they needed to make.

Its a decent album but its a couple steps below Funeral and The Suburbs in my opinion, but its an album that they needed to make. Funeral is by far their masterpiece. It's even more impressive that it's their debut. I really love The Suburbs and it deserved the Grammy for album of the year. Huge win for rock and guitar music. I do however believe it is a tad too long and many songs repeat similar themes over and over. Minor criticism. Neon Bible is always going to be underrated. Very difficult to follow up a brilliant debut. Neon Bible still contains some magical tunes like Keep The Car Running, Antichrist Television Blues and No Cars Go. It's a dark record but still contains the brilliance of the band. Something Oasis couldn't replicate on their "dark" album SOTSOG. I personally love Reflektor. I probably rank it #2 after Funeral. It's bold and wants to be different than what came before. Something all Arcade Fire albums seem to achieve. It reminds me of The White Album. Not in terms of musical or cultural impact but how every song is a different style or genre. The album is all over the place. Reflektor has the Berlin era Bowie feel. Normal Person sounds like a Neil Young and Crazy Horse. It's Never Over channels Prince. Afterlife is a tribute to New Order. This record has it all in terms of musical influences. Keeps it fresh for me.

As good as The Suburbs is, for me it falls just short of Butterfly House. I don't think I can stand by this. I still adore Sprawl II though.

Five years on and it's still the best album of this decade so far.
