That really fucking sucks. I'm not a big U2 fan, but I'd love to see them live.

Bono out of action for 2 months. All North American shows cancelled. To be rescheduled in for 2011. European tour may be delayed! Oh crap!

I have a ticket for their first gig in Horsens. Here in Denmark they say that they won't cancel.

I have a ticket for their first gig in Horsens. Here in Denmark they say that they won't cancel. I'm at the 2nd Helsinki show on 21st August. I'm sure U2 will be back for this. Although early European shows may be delayed? The link below is an interview with the Edge. www.u2tours.com/news/article.src?ID=1532

This sucks big time. This was the Glastonbury gig that I was always most looking forward to. What a bummer. Now we're going to get tripe like Dizzee Rascal or somebody.

Feel sorry for those who had tickets BUT at least now they get someone better to step in @ Glasto. Not a U2 fan tbh

Talks of Led Zep doing it, porbably won't happen but it would be epic if they did, miles better than U2 headlining it

I mean sure Gorillaz have some good songs but Albarn is still a dick and overall they are no way on Par as a decent replacement. Eavis has been hasty with his choice here & it's BS if you ask me. Sure they have an album to promote but last I knew they were Cartoons now they are doing live shows as a band?! I saw them on John Ross recently & they seem very samey & can picture the gig getting boring tbh. Nothing compared to the effect songs like Elevation or With Or Without you could have on a crowd at a gig this size. Rant over!...

The only band that is the same size of U2 would be The Stones and even that was unrealistic. Led Zeppelin was a fever dream at best. Gorrilaz have great albums and their amalgamation of various genres mirrors Glastonbury's own vision of diversity.

Gorillaz are currently receiving excellent reviews in the music press. The recent show in California went down a storm. Gorillaz are touring UK Arenas in December. So they do have a large following. Personally i'm not interested in them. And they are not really (in my opinion) a suitable like for like replacement for U2. I would of thought a suitable artist would be one that has a similar profile to that of U2. Bear in mind this show was to be U2's only UK appearance this year. Therefore a lot of UK U2 fans bought Glastonbury tickets. So i can't see hard core U2 fans being overjoyed about watching Gorillaz. I ideal choice would be Depeche Mode. Same age group fans as U2. Stadium giants. And currently on a world tour. Depeche Mode would of smashed Glastonbury!
