I obviously knew Noel was heavily influenced by them, and he got the riff from Cigs and Alc (funnily enough Get It On just came on as I wrote that, and I heard the resemblance right away. He most certainty lifted that rifft!)
I never heard of them bar Noel's references
I just downloaded T.Rex's Best Of collection, on track 3. Really liking it.
Chalk another band to the list Oasis have gotten me into (The Smiths, Stone Roses, The Kinks, The Jam, The La's, Happy Mondays - still not convinced by them though)
Anyone else like T.Rex?

I did that a couple of years ago... they have a few awful records, the slider is good, the earlier stuff is more folky, but it's still good... Electric Warrior is by far their best. In fact it's one of the best records I've listened to

Telegram Sam!!!
The first T Rex song I've heard on the midnight radio when I was 14 was "Teenage Dream". I loved it and I still do.
"Get It On" has been covered by Powerstation (Robert Palmer, John Taylor etc) and "Telegram Sam" has been covered by Bauhaus a long time ago. You can have a listen to those songs too if you're interested.

"20th century boy" is where it's at, man!
p.s. it's a riff, not a rifft, cheeks.

After downloading their entire discography, I haven't listened to all of the albums yet (bar a few tunes like Dandy in the Underworld, which is good, mind).
But the last few weeks I've been addicted to The Slider. What an amazing album. Such an underrated band.

I like a few of their songs, but I can't say I'm into them. I'm not keen on glam rock to be honest.

I really like them. I remember hearing 'Children of the Revolution' on a 3 advert about 5/6 years ago, thinking it was great then, began to listen to the other songs.
I quite like the Slider album as well as the others mentioned. Buick McKane is a great song.
