Therefore, a gig like Knebworth, or Gmex, or whatever would sell so many compared to a compilation of singles which every fan has. Well, yeah, but you wouldn't get the random music buyer to buy a Knebworth or G-Mex dvd. I think the most positive thing about a best of release, is that you have say the regular radio listener who knows only a couple of Oasis tunes like Lyla and The Importance Of Being Idle, buying the best of set to check out Oasis more extensively (Which will hopefully lead to the person who buys a best of to become a fan).

But it's easy to download good quality versions of all the singles online for free. It's harder to get copies of these gigs - Knebworth is on youtube but I'd pay for a good, quality version of it..... If you average it out, I'm sure you'd get more profit from selling a Knebworth gig than a singles compilation.

If you average it out, I'm sure you'd get more profit from selling a Knebworth gig than a singles compilation. I'm not so sure of that to be honest. Maybe if it was a new live album from Springsteen or U2 *cringes* Besides best of compilations tends to sell better than live albums (With a few exceptions of course). Now if it where up to me, I'd definitely choose to release a best of. But that's only because it would be the better thing to do in terms of sale. As a hardcore fan, I would definitely choose a HD release of Knebworth over a best of release anyday. But as said before, you won't get a 15 year old boy or girl to buy a release of Knebworth (Again with a few exceptions). They'd rather want to hear studio recordings than live versions. And face it, we'd all want Oasis to get new fans And there's another thing I wanted to discuss as well. As we all know, either Liam or Noel is probably involved in this release. If I could choose, I'd buy Stop The Clocks instead of this release, just because Noel has been involved in creating that compilation. But that's merely from a fanboys point of view. But see, there's a backside with having Noel involved in that project: both Be Here Now and Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants was wastly overlooked (Completely in Be Here Now's case). It's really the fans (And potential new fans aswell) loss by missing out on fantastic tracks just because the guy who made the songs don't like them anymore.

Good news in my opinion, hopefully will bring a lot of new fans to the band just like STC did with me and a few others on here.

What puzzles me the most is the fact that Sunday Morning Call ain't on the "official" tracklist. Why would they make a great song like that into a hidden track. Now I ain't got anything against She's Love, but if they absolutely have to make a track a hidden track, that's the one they should use. I hope he plays it on his tour. The acoustic versions prior to SOTSOG were brilliant.

@kingoasis: Yeah, you may be right, but judging by his departure last august, I would think he'd not choose to be involved at any new Oasis projects for the time being. Especially a best of project. As we all know, Noel are not for best of albums, but felt he had to be involved in the Stop The Clocks compilation because he wanted to make it into a justfiable Oasis release. Noel even decided how the order of the tracks would be like, stating that he wanted to make the tracklisting into something of an Oasis setlist at a concert or something like that. The tracklisting for Time Flies looks a bit to random than say if Noel should've made the tracklist.

I only ever liked wonderwall and didnt care for oasis until i started listening to my sister's stop the clocks cd on her ipod. i was transfixed with the consistency of brilliant songs from the band.....id had never known a band that had so many great tunes. now oasis are like an obsession of mine. i listen to the everyday.
the point i am trying to make is that i became a massive fan on the back of the stc compilation and now ive bought nearly all their other cds. so releasing a new compilation will bring new fands to the band.
the first time i heard the chorus to supersonic.....i thought i was in heaven lol

I staerted listening to Oasis just before STC came out but couldn't get me hands on anything (internet was dial up and I couldn't affoard to buy all the albums) then STC came out and now here I am, no reason why a singles collection can't do the same for others

I have no idea why some people are mad about this. The band is over, its obvious that Sony still have plans to earn some money with Oasis's name. And singles collections are everywhere, I'm sure they're doing for one reason: it is profitable for them.

I would love for Oasis to promote this somewhat, maybe a Noel solo show or some Liam guest spots on tv or something. I would love a promotion tour from Noel, as he did with STC. Unfortunately, more than half a year ago, Noel quit Oasis, so I don't really see that happening. And Liam will be working on his new album, so don't expect anything from him. Also, I believe he once said he won't play any Noel songs anymore. (However he wasn't very clear about this; and I find it hard to believe Liam will perform a full gig with new material only...)

"Time keeps rolling by... 1994-2009" would've been a better title
or maybe "The years are falling by like the rain" haha
