Ok, it's still hard to decided between BHN and DOYS - although DBTT has taken a back seat, somewhat, out of that threesome....although still very close.
AGN has grown on me even more - sure, nothing spectacular, but it's not even close to their worse.
TNOR is still shit. SO is still hit and miss, and regardless is too long. HHL is meh.
IOT isn't the best Oasis ballad, but it's not bad.
But this album is pure Oasis, it's pure rock. It's miles ahead of HC. It's not contrived. It's bold and ambitious.
And it makes it even more of a shame Oasis packed it in after DBTT and even more so after DOYS......
DM --- MG --- BHN/DOYS --- DBTT --- SOTSOG --- HC
What a band

DBTT is better as a whole there isn't a single moment you get bored or loose the interest on the album.. it flows really well from start to finish
DOYS has a great start but goes down very badly after To Be Where There's Life

Everyone is in title to their own opinion - but I have to disagree. Allthough I consider DOYS to be better than DBTT (which doesnt say a lot) it will never get into "top three fav oasis-records".

I'm not much of a fan of DBTT... TIOBI is a masterpice, but regarding the rest of the cd, it just doesn't blow my mind, like DOYS does in more than one song, such as BIU, TT and FD...as an album, I'm not sure it could touch BHN, cos' there's this hole magic behind, but I definitely agree with the thread title.... DOYS is fucking awesome.
Oh and lionsden, that dinosaur was just epic man.... thank you for that

I just finished listening to both of them back to back. DBTT flows a lot better and has much more singy moments (Lyla, TIOBI, TUTS) and just down right good songwriting (LTBL, GGTIA, LLAB, KTDA) but damn DOYS just rocks the fuck outta ya: BIU, TT, TSOTL, WFTR, TNOF, AGN and in trances you (FD, TBWTL, HHL). Thing is DOYS flows as an album too with its apocalyptic theme but the songs do without a doubt get a bit weaker near (it seems more than it really is cos Noel's songs are brilliant in the beginning but each song isn't a pile of shit) the end where as on DBTT the songwriting is solid all the way through but as less "shining" moments. I still though I don't really know which one is better among them. Both albums though are amazing and I can honestly say cos I haven't listened to either in a while that they are some of the best albums of this decade. And haven't aged at all (maybe due to my break with them).
DBTT for me was them getting back on their feet songwriting wise DOYS for me proved that they still could rock and have that swagger

Half of it is pretty good but the rest is utter shite - dull, derivative and uninspiring.
I'm afraid it goes down as another wasted opportunity in my book, along with pretty much every post-MG album.
There are nuggets of brilliance to be found on every one of those subsequent records, it's just the inconsistency that kills them.
Funnily enough, Don't Believe The Truth was probably the most consistent Oasis album post-Morning Glory but for me it lacked killer tunes.
Lyla was pretty good and I like Keep The Dream Alive (although think it's too slow and Liam's vocals aren't great) but I'm one of the few who doesn't think The Importance Of Being Idle is a classic.

I like Noel songs more in DOYS than in DBTT, with exception of The Importance Of Being Idle which is the best song Oasis made this decade in my book. But the contributions from the other guys are alot better it DBTT which makes it a more competitive record overall.
In DOYS Liam wrote 2 shite songs and a good one, Andy 1 shite song, while Gem wrote 1 average|Good song
In DBBT Liam wrote 2 good ones and 1 average|shite (MOS). Andy 1 great song and 1 good and Gem1 good song.

calling DOYS bold is like calling Little James bold utter stupidity that analogy doesn't even make any sense! Go listen to DOYS again. When was the last time they sounded like this? Oh, BHN....

Go listen to DOYS again. When was the last time they sounded like this? Oh, BHN.... naahh, it sounds more like sotsog than bhn. both are in that "not songy" vein.
but SOTSOG is fuckin awesome

DOYS IS their best since SOTSOG. Noel's songs are awesome, yes even HHL, Liam has one good song with sort of weak lyrics (SO), One crap song that's kinda saved by a good performance by tha band (AGN) and one bland uninspired song (IOT). Gem's song is passable but not memorable (much like most stuff on HC) and Andy's song has a very good instrumental track with good production but the melody and lyrics are FUCKING SHIT.
So that's that. it's Oasis' fourth best behind the first two and SOTSOG. It shows that Noel is a helluva songwriter and that the other guys' contributions ruined the album.
Noel's songs show that he's a very mature songwriter that knows exactly what he's doing with his songs. There's a lot going on in his songs and I'm really looking forward to get a Noel solo album. The other guys are good musicians, Liam still has a great voice in the studio and still nothing beats a Liam singing a Noel song but If there's a talented songwriter in the band, it's Noel. That's what DOYS showed.
PS. those who say BWTB should've made the album have an awful musical taste
