we agree on that, but remember that's the simple way YOU think. If there are no tests for some substances that means they all dope?
no. i didn't say that. i said i have no evidence, but from what i know, most of them in fact are doped. all the doping cases we know about show: the TOP athletes do doping! and we also had testimonials by those athletes! i can just still say: name 5 olymipic gold medal winners on the 100m that hadn't been caught afterwards or before! my point is: a generation of dopers (gatlin, montgomery, chambers...) worked hard to lower the WR for 0.01 seconds! and bolt runs... 0.03 with jogging the last 20metres in beijing. that together with the fact that there were no training controls before 2008 (and sorry, that is true!) just doesn't make this race very credible at all. the fact that there is no evidence is because noone looked for it.
do you have any evidence? has anyone made an investigation? where are the newspapers? oh, they must be in, after all if there are records they sell more...
oh there is media reporting about this. it is not that this is some conspiracy theory... over here we had loads of documentations, interviews, newspaper articles and so on.
Some people may think that old records can be broken with better training techniques. If you take one from the 60's, apply improvements on the track, shoes, training, etc. you can understand the evolution of the times.
oh get a grip, i am not talking about a record from the 60s compared to a record from yesterday.
but okay if you want:
this is 1985. if we had those huge improvements in technique: why does this record still stand? she never tested positive.
now i don't deny that there are technical improvements that make times possible that weren't before. swimming is a real good example. we have seen people beating others because of their suits. so that is the perfect example: fact is: you need the better suit to win! so i guess athletes want to make sure that they have the perfect suite for the race!
this is exactly the same thing with medical enhancements: if you can't be tested positive and you know that others are doing the same, what reason is there not to dope? in the end, both things are: use modern science in the most efficient way.
and again, various 100m records in the years before 2008 were deleted after the athletes were caught. and then you've got bolt and powell from a country that doesn't test at all? sorry, not credible. it is a shame that things are like that, but facts show that doping is not the exception.
Did you know that the sentence "Everybody is innocent until declared guilty" was a BIG progress? I guess it's easier to throw shit everywhere without a single evidence.
i agree with you. everyone should be innocent before proven guilty! that's why many athletes are still allowed to race and make money!
but unfortunately it is not always that simple: example valverde! the italian anti doping agency presented the evidence that he is guilty! BUT: only the spanish federation can really ban him and they claimed, that the italians were not responsible. sorry, but things like that piss me off and make me wonder wether they take the fight against doping serious or try every trick in the bag to prevent their athletes to be banned.
and i have a right to take the facts and make up my own opinion.
You think that everybody (athletes, federations, international organizations, mass media) is living a big lie to make a big show. I think they know doping is a shame, and is remembered beyond the show. Seoul '88 100m final was described as the best race ever and now it's seen as a big fake.
yeah, but that is exactly my point: who gives a fuck about 88 now?
it is always the same:
"yeah we know it was all fake, but now it is all clean!!!"
then we had gatlin, montgomery, greene... marion jones, kelly white and so on and on. but who cares? we've learned from that, but now the athletes are clean!
or cycling: "yeah the festina scandal really opened our eyes, we have a clean tour now!"
then we had fuentes, team telekom, bernhard kohl and so on and suddenly you realise: oh these people are a bunch of liars!
it is always the same: there is a huge scandal, then they have all learned from it and now everyone is clean. until the next scandal.
but in the moment of the race they always claim it is all clean!
of course noone would watch track and field if you knew that they are doped, but noone gives a fuck about the past cause you can always tell everythings better now, even if it's not.
sorry dude, but you are the perfect example that this strategy works!
And the people who live from this want sport to have a good image to find more people who practise it, they don't want to keep the lies secret at any cost cos they're smart enough to know that lies are revealed some time after.
see this is EXACTLY what i mean: people who work with this are interested in the image of the sport right now! if an athlete is caught a year after his gold medal they don't care! they can always say: okay, we've learned from this but today it is better. but as i wrote in the initial post: nothing is better today!
Apart from the fact that some people who work there have a little sense of ethics.
sorry, but this is little more than a joke. what ethical problem would you have with doping if you consider that most of the guys better than you are doing it, too?
the federations? over here in germany we have so many coaches that worked in the gdr doping system. who cares? they tell they never did something and don't do something today and that's just it.
and the spectators? who cares? if you knew that bolts beijing run was a result of massive doping - would this make your experience on that day less memorable? fuck hell, even i watched the 100m run on sunday! be honest, we are all only too happy with not knowing so much.
