I chose Franz Ferdinand because I've always loved them even though the last album didn't really do it for me. Biffy Clyro and Primal Scream are up there too.

But Belle & Sebastian, Primal Scream, Mogwai, Frightened Rabbit and Camera Obscura are better than any of those.
If we count old bands then Teenage Fanclub, The Vaselines, Jesus & Mary Chain, Cocteau Twins should be mentioned too.
My favourite Scottish band is Belle & Sebastian

Travis are far and away the best Scottish band out there - one of my favourite bands, and their live gigs are awesome. They are just fantastic. Franz Ferdinand are good, but Idlewild should be in that category.
Primal Scream are alright but are tainted by the fact Bobby Gillespie is a lanky streak of piss.

Although Idlewild are good too as are Frightened Rabbit. I dont think Travis can pull it off really anymore. 2 absolute class albums though. I think Travis' last album, Ode To J. Smith, is bloody excellent. Most rocky album since their first, but without ripping off Oasis like the first one does. But anyway, I think Ode To J Smith is up there with The Man Who. |
