ok im just curious of what would be the best & maybe cheapest thing to buy to record your own music,i just have a tape recorder which i record my songs with then i overdub again then transfer to my pc but the sound isn't that good.
i dont have a mic for my pc but im not sure if i bought one,if it'd pick up the sound from my guitar... does anyone have any good ideas? i'd really appreciate any help.
thanks in advance

First off is it acoustic or electric you want to record? I used this set of headphones/microphone combo that I bought for £25 www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=201642684I put the headphones on my desk and put the mic about 6 inches from the strings above the soundhole on my acoustic. I used the free program Audacity to record, did the guitar and vocals seperately (did vocals by listening to the guitar and singing into the mic, wearing it normally) and then put them together to get the final product. Considering the equipment I think it sounds awesome!
