We've all tried to convert our friends and family to the wonders of Oasis.
Some did without much hassle but which ones did it take ages to make them see the light ( and then become as fanatical as you!)
And who still holds out!?
My dad is just not willing to like Oasis (he like Rory G and Neil Young) and whenever he see's Noel on tv he goes ''is that your buddy"

My dad is just not willing to like Oasis (he like Rory G and Neil Young) and whenever he see's Noel on tv he goes ''is that your buddy" I will never get my Mum or Dad into Oasis - it's just not their kind of thing. I got my twin brother into them - at first he was like 'don't like Liam's voice' and 'too loud' but I gradually gave him stuff he'd like - songs like Rockin Chair, SCYHO, DLBIA, - all these ballady type songs and now he's a full blown convert who listens to the heavy stuff like TSOTL which he loves. It's not his favourite band like mine, but he ranks them in his top three. My older sister - can't get her into them. She likes the MG tracks (who doesn't?) but other than that it's always a case of 'oh look it's your hero' when Noel appears on TV. I just say to her 'how can you have a judgement on them when all you listen to is Coldplay'. Other than that, I haven't got my friends into them, simpy because their musical tastes are shite and will never change in the meantime.

I have two friends, both from Texas, who are into vaguely experimental indie music (no slight on them, we like many of the same bands). One of these friends, a girl, was a Blur fanatic in high school and had the DVDs and knew all the B-sides and all that. Nowadays she's always listening to whatever the hip new Pitchfork/Stereogum/et al. band is (again not a slight as she's not necessarily a fan of everything she hears, just like anybody else). So after a full freshman year at college of me subtly exposing her to Oasis she admitted that she really loved Songbird. And MG/DM just like everybody else. But I felt it was a real victory to get a newly Los Angeles-ized hipster (we went to University of Southern California) to dig a single off of "Heathen Chemistry."
My male friend, also from Texas, also a Los Angeles-ized hipster, was also a Blur fan and had recently developed an interest in drone rock. He provided me with two moments of triumph. The first was after a night spent driving around South Central LA, blasting "Whatever" out the windows at 2 in the morning. We came inside, somewhat wasted, and he began to berate me about the meaningless of Whatever's words. He thought the rhyme scheme was too simplistic. I looked at him and shouted "SHE LOVES YOU, YEAH YEAH YEAH" and he paused thoughtfully and said, "You're right, I love it." A few months later we were driving around and I was blasting "The Turning" and he was stunned by the droning choir in the chorus.
So yeah, neither die-hard converts, but both provided months of resistance. Not that everyone has to like Oasis or anything.

Two of my better friends, like me (Both from Toronto Canada if you can believe it) are die hard fans. I've also converted 10+ not die ahrd fans but new fans that now have 20+ songs on their ipod.

Heh, I've converted a few people who had only heard Wonderwall, CS, and Live Forever (if only because of Rock Band, lol). Well, not really "converted", but opened them up to some of the lesser known tracks.
One of my old roommates was very anti-Oasis. For a while, I was trying to get him into the Gem/Noel acoustic tour music, and that's where his resentment was actually born lol. Then, I just happened to have IWLIAD(IMRM) playing on the iHome, and he admitted that he really liked it, which stunned me. I also played Morning Glory on my acoustic guitar, and he loves that song now, too.
I got one of my friends to buy (WTS)MG, and now that's one of his favorite albums, although he doesn't like DM, or DOYS (the only other ones he even tried to listen to).

I regularly force my dad to listen to all kinds of things. "You'll like this. Don't move." And he loved them right away. He wants to watch the Cabaret Sauvage gig all the time. He claims not to understand a word Liam utters but he finds them very funny.

Got my step brother and my mom into them. I always try to get my friends to listen to their stuff but this is what one of them said: "that guy (Liam) has got one of the worst voices ever. they might be a good band if they got rid of that faggot singer."

Yea I've had a few people tell me they didn't like his voice. I guess cos it's a bit different? Kinda like Morrissey's voice. You either like it or... not so much. Anyways, biggest convert would probably be my sister. Got her heavy into Oasis last summer and now it's her favorite band. Absolutely loves Lyla, DLBIA (who doesn't though?) and The Masterplan. This summer I'm working on my gf. Just started going out recently so I'm in the process of converting her. Already loves SCYHO. I figure I'll just make her listen to all the the ballads as she likes the slower stuff. Oasis ballads are top-notch and she's quite eager to please me (aren't relationships great in the beginning? lol) so it shouldn't be considerably hard. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
