We need to sort out all these injuries we keep getting as well, it's not good enough. I know that feeling.

It was never a penalty, and even if it was - the was minimal contact at best - it was not worthy of a red. I think AW will appeal and it will get over turned If it doesn't, I'd rather AW put in Song at DC with Campbell, and then use Denilson (who is shit but I'd rather risk that position than center of defence) to fill in for Song. Everything right here. Wenger will definitely appeal the red card. www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/club-appeals-thomas-vermaelen-red-cardSee, told you didn't I? ;D

It's got rejected, and now TV will be suspended for a further match
What a load of bollocks.

The FA is only interested in helping out one team that play in red, and it sure as fuck isn't Arsenal or Manchester United. I know, how Gerrard got off with that elbow beggars belief. I don't know what they think they're playing at. Also Vermaelen will only be banned for the Birmingham game and not for any further games like I thought. Had a little look around and it's only if the appeal is considered frivolous that they can decide to extend the ban for more games and to be fair I think Vermaelen did have a case. Just glad he'll be back for the Barca game

While Liverpool have been mentioned. Who reckons Steven " I bleed Liverpool" Gerard (Stevie G to the scousers) will be at Liverpool next season? I think he's finally coped on that he won't win the league with Liverepool. Should have gone to Chelsea when he had the chance

He's not playing like a bloke who wants to be where he is, that's for sure. And I'll bet Fernando Torres is beginning to wish United had gone through with his proposed transfer almost as much as most United fans do.

Well that was shit. Manuel is such a clown.
And why oasisandtoonfan has some vendetta against Arsenal I will never know. We're not out of it yet. From the last 10 games, I think 8 wins and 2 draws would be sufficient. It's not over yet. After all, I don't hear Hillary Clinton singing.

Arsenal kinda fucked up their chances big time today I wouldn't go that far but it certainly put a spanner in the works. I think given the wafer thin squad and all the injury's we've had, if we don't win the title, 2nd or 3rd place can still be looked back upon as some amount of achievement. Any more draws or losses though and we can definitely kiss the title goodbye.

Here we go. Got the beer lined up. Should we win today, I'm downing all the remaining ones in epic celebration (yes, I know there would still be the 2nd leg...)
COME ON YOU GOONERS!!

That was an amazing comeback. After the first half, we were humiliated and destroyed, yet somehow level at 0-0. Almunia was superb in the first half. Ironically, it was his mistake that led to Barca's first goal. And at 2-0 it looked like game and tie over.
But Theo used his once trick - his pace - to full effect. And once he scored, the momentum shifted and it was, finally, all Arsenal.
It was a clear penalty, and a clear red card. Massive props to Cesc, the main man stepped up on the big, pressurized ocassasion again, and slotted it home. 2-2. Sadly, he hurt himself further. Hope it's not too bad. (On a further note, his yellow card was not only harsh but also wrong. Fucking refs).
So Barca have the advantage with the 2 away goals, but Arsenal deserve a lot of credit for their response and a chance to progress at the Nou Camp.
Just wow.

Well, it could have been a lot worse, I mean after we dominated the first 30 mins Barcelona were lucky to still be in with a shot Can't believe after we somehow survived that 1st half barrage we go and fuck it up 30 seconds into the second half The only plus really is Barca will be missing Pique & Puyol for the 2nd leg but I still think it's a task we won't be up to. And more fucking injuries

2-0 up, I sank back in my chair and felt so underwhelmed and disappointed. But now we're back in it - I'll take that! Not many teams can come from 2-0 after being completely outplayed like that, so it bodes well for next week.
But it's not as if we were outplayed for the whole 90 minutes as NL4E says - once Walcott came on, all momentum was with us, so all those who frown upon the result (bitter opposition fans obviously) don't really have anything to be bitter about.

Credit to Arsenal for their response at 2-0 down, but Barcelona took their foot off the pedal almost completely in the second half. They barely troubled Arsenal going forward, and if anything, the fact that they even scored is further evidence of the frailties in Arsenal's defence*. Conceding that goal once is bad enough, but twice? They've got a lot of work to do if they're going to qualify, but they've at least given themselves something to take to the Nou Camp.
* Yes, I'm aware that this may seem somewhat ironic given the nature of Bayern's second on Tuesday night.

No but your right, it wasn't that Arsenal turned it round so speak but it was Barcelona who took their foot of the gas like you said. It's not completely out of the question to qualify but they've only themselves to blame if they don't. I know Almunia kept the score from being 3 or 4 more but that 1st goal was a shocker from him, threw all the hard work in the 1st half out the window. all those who frown upon the result don't really have anything to be bitter about. Nah, there's not much to be bitter about, we were only totally outplayed for the first half and conceded 2 (cheap) away goals and lost Fabregas for the rest of the season and Gallas & Arshavin for at least 2/3 weeks.
