Why? Blur's first albums were rubbish and Oasis's first albums are great. No problem there, every band has their time and Oasis peaked right out of the gate. Rubbish? I think they only have an album that can be considerated rubbish, Leisure, but all the albums before 13 except Leisure are great, they're not a singles band, just listen to Modern life is rubbish and Parklife, in The Great Escape they turned into a single band, yes, but you can't say The Universal, Stereotypes, He Thought Of Cars and Charmless Man are bad songs Exept from the universal, the are all bad songs. Horrible "We are british, oh so very bloody british" Moments....

Anyway, weird to see them playing Essex Dogs (have they before?), but whats everyone's favorite tune by Blur? Still say For Tomorrow is their best. I think they had played it before, I remember watching a performance of it in Glastonbury The Universal, Tender, She's so High, For Tomorrow, End of a century, Beetlebum and Sing are their best songs for me

The Universal is my favorite blur song, actually maybe one of my favorite songs ever probably.
Blur are a great band. They had a few piss poor albums (Leisure, The Great Escape, Think Tank) but Damon Albarn is a fucking genius.

They've all aged well, haven't they? Except Damon, looks wasted especially with the golden tooth showing every time they close in on him.

Stereotypes is just a tonge in cheek look at middle England.

If u listen to Blur discography you can see that they are a very different band from Oasis and why they dind't become world famous like Oasis, they are more art rockers and experimental.
Blur lack some things in their music, the voracity, urgence and in-your-face that Oasis have, sometimes when I'm listen to Blur I get very Tired of that La-La-La Na-Na-Na kind of stuffs.

They do lack that, yes, but they do make up for it in other aspects. They do have some stupid tunes (Girls and Boys is so fucking horrible), but they're a very intelligent band. Coxon is an incredibly talented guitarist, very much recognizable.

yea saw them at hyde park, absolutely amazing, Tender is better than oasis have ever done imo plus damon still sounds great live, oasis should kick out that weird manchild and have noel sing all their songs, that'll turn them back into a quality live act

Belive me, I'm not some bitter Oasis fan, I really do like Blur a lot, but at Glastonbury Damon sounded like he was struggling to breathe! The gig as a whole was brilliant, but the singing was definitely not the best. (And btw, have you been to an Oasis gig? Can you really imagine Noel tearing into Cigarettes and Alcohol or To Be Where There's Life?)

They headlined the first night at Oxegen and the majority of people left early as they just weren't up to scratch

Irish Independant: "The reformed Blur failed to recreate the magic of Glastonbury. They received a luke-warm welcome from the Irish crowd, with reports that large numbers were wandering away before the band finished their encore."
I've also read in the Times that Albarn was stoned on stage and had trouble remembering the set list

Ya they played alright (better than oxegen apparently). Albarn did describe it as their last gig. Whether he ment of the tour or of all time is in doubt. Can't see them quiting now though
